Based on the CitySearch rating, I went to Al's with my wife and a coworker for lunch. The atmosphere was ok. Two of us ordered the double cheeseburger, and my wife ordered a quesadilla. The waitress switched the burgers and gave mine to my coworker. Even though, it's a sit down restaurant, our burgers were wrapped in paper with no plate. The burgers are a notch below Wendy's burgers, and the fries are worse than any fast food place. The food was also very overpriced. The bill was hand written and difficult to read. The total was $26.01, but I added everything up and came up with $24.63. I also double checked my math when I got back to a computer and it came out to $24.63. We gave the waitress $28 and she followed us out of the place to complain.

  • Pros: Diet Coke was ok
  • Cons: Everything else

Al's is hands down the best burger in arlington. The staff is always very frindley and now you can eat brakefast there. Al still hangs around and makes time to visit with ya.

  • Pros: brakefast and burgers. Good location. great staff
  • Cons: Al can make ya fat

The food is a little generic. The hamburgers have small patties and the buns are simply what you would get from the market, but the atmosphere is cool. You can sit at the bar and watch them prepare your food or sit at a table and get excellent service. The owner is almost always there and may strike up a conversation, or at least ask you how your doing and refill your drink. You can feel at home at Al's. While the food may not be the best, it is a burger, and you can feel at home here. I love this place.

Anybody who loves hamburgers knows Al's. Family owned stores that make a terrific old fashion hamburger. When you walk in you see the history on ever wall. The staff takes pride in there establishment and every customer leaves with a smile. I stop in ever chance I get.

  • Pros: The Burgers, The Staff, History
  • Cons: None

Hamburger tastes like a regular FAST Food hamburger. French Fries are dry and over cooked.

I do not know how this restaurant made the list. My thoughts were that it was very expensive for what you get. This is equal to Wendys/ Whataburger fast food restaurant.

In Short
Al's Hamburgers is still family-owned and family friendly, the kind of place where everybody really does know your name. The food is what gives Al's its long standing reputation. And it isn't just burgers: Get there early and Al's will whip breakfast into shape with omelets, pancakes, sausages and toast. After 10:30, Al's starts up the lunch menu. Besides luscious burgers, diners can nibble on salads, quesadillas and a mean, stubbornly beanless chili.

Good old fashioned hamburgers, the way they used to flip em off the soda fountain counter.

Served with mustard, thin patties, good onion rings, and malts. Just a taste of good ole all american burgers, the way they used to be.

Not many of these joints around anymore. Check it out!

  • Pros: normal portions
  • Cons: none

This place has such a wonderful appeal to it! It really feels like a comfortable place - like that restaraunt in Happy Days - where the owner knows you by name!

It is so awesome to be eating in a restaraunt and have the actual owner and namesake of the store come over and strike up a conversation.

Even the grilled cheese here tastes like gourmet These people are experts!

Al's is an institution. Al works in the restaurant and is there everyday helping the staff. The staff is friendly. The food is awesome. Not much on style (burgers and fries are served in paper bags, but, man, are they good!!! They do have healthy alternatives, but if you want a great, greasy burger and excellent fries/tots, this is the place to go.

PROS: Awesome food, friendly atmosphere

CONS: None
