Debuting in 1962 as Thrif D Discount Center in Scranton, Pa., this drugstore chain became known as Rite Aid in 1968, and today is one of the largest in the nation. In addition to a pharmacy, each store carries a wide variety of health-care and household items--from nutritional supplements to cleaning supplies to snack foods. Flu clinics are held at various locations throughout the flu season.

Poor service, overpriced perscriptions

I do not recommend this Rite Aid pharmacy. I have filled several perscriptions there and been disappointed every time. For starters, they are extremely slow. Also, because of their location, you also get quite a few, how do I put it, 'extremely colorful' characters ahead and behind you. Though most are amusing, I find several to be unsavory. Lastly, Rite Aid's pricing seems to be unreasonable. In the past, I had assumed that pharmacy pricing was fairly standard. I'm not one to shop around, nor do I mind paying extra for good service - I recently picked up a refill from another pharmacy (Fred Meyer) and found it interesting that Fred Meyer pharmacy pricing was about 30% less. I inquired about pricing for several other prescriptions in the past and found significantly lower pricing at Fred Meyer and Walgreens . I think we pay enough for prescriptions as it is without having a Rite Aid to inflate prices.
- Pros: Convenient downtown location
- Cons: overpriced, slow service, unsavory customers
