small hotel with zen atmosphere

a beautiful transformation - the tradewinds has a very relaxed, tucked-away feeling. several blocks up a slight hill from the downtown area of carmel, you feel removed but are just a short walk from the restaurants and shops.

after check-in, we were led through the small pathways lined with amazing palms and ferns to our guestroom (with ocean view). the guestrooms are beautiful and luxurious, with fun batik robes and a very cozy fireplace. the ocean view is very limited due to the foliage surrounding the hotel.

the tradewinds is a limited service hotel, with the front desk closing up at about 10pm. a continental breakfast is served daily, however, we found that the breakfast room was always full - we carried our breakfast to one of the small seating areas. the service was not consistent, with some staff quite friendly and others fairly brisk.

this is a wonderful place for a romatic weekend away - you feel removed from the world here. they are also dog friendly. if you prefer a full service hotel, you would be happier at another hotel.

My boyfriend and I went there for our spring vacation and absolutely adored the place! Since it was off season, we even got upgraded. The place is newly renovated and the staff is so gracious. The Inn is so beautiful and relaxing. Before booking at the place, we checked others out but no place compared. I'd definitely recommend this place to everyone who's going to Carmel.
