very good devils food cake and coffe cake

the devils food cake is so moist. My husband has been coming to this place for ~20yrs. The coffee cake is good too, but a little too much crumbs on top -- the crumbs are as high as the cake. It would be great of less crumbs and more cake. The cake part of the coffee cake is incredibly delicious! Rachel's got a really good special recipe!

Best frozen cappuccino

Walked by on a hot sunny morning in search of iced coffee, decided to order a frozen cappuccino. Clearly the best i've ever had! topped with whipped cream, cinnamon and chocolate syrup! What a pleasant surprise!

Ocean Beach's go-to spot for a coffee and food that's the very definition of casual dining.

The Scene
What started as a bakery in 1975 has expanded to include a large dinning room where vacationers gather for strong coffee and casual breakfast, lunch and dinner. The owner, Rachel Doering, helped overturn the law prohibiting food consumption on the sidewalk--and in the process won over the town. The casual, high-ceilinged room is paneled floor-to-ceiling and has local art hanging on its walls. Service can be slow when crowds are at their peak, but no one's in a hurry here.

The Food
Breakfast that stretches into lunch is a weekend favorite, and Rachel's makes respectable versions of the classics such as fluffy pancakes, eggs Benedict with a tangy Hollandaise sauce, and an overstuffed breakfast burrito that would be perfect if only the potato chunks were smaller. Lunch veers American with hot grilled sandwiches, burgers, wraps and salads, and dinner includes chicken parmigiana, flank steak and pasta.

Best Crumb Cake Ever

Every summer I look forward to my trip out to Fire Island and my mouth waters when I think of the unbelievable crumb cake at Rachels! A trip to Ocean Beach is not complete without it!
