From my blog Chickenunderwear
Two summers ago the whole family made a 3 day trip to Philadelphia. On the way home we stopped at the Aquarium. It was packed on this summer day. I don't know why so many people made this a summer vacation destination, It was mostly indoors. I put it in my head to go back on a day that was ok to drive 95 miles but not so nice outdoors. Today was the day. There was plenty of elbow room at the aquarium. We had a wonderful time.
There is just something that makes the Adventure Aquarium different from other similar places. We have been to all the zoos in New York City also collectively know as The Wildlife Conservation Society, The New England Aquarium in Boston, The National Aquarium in Baltimore, The Philadelphia Zoo, The National Zoo in Washington DC. The first thing that make the Adventure Aquarium different is that it is a dotcom and the other places are dotorg or .edu. Different. At the Adventure Aquarium each room full of fish had its own music; there is no soundtrack at the Coney Island Aquarium. At the Adventure Aquarium the people who work there are known as "CAST", just like all the employees at Disney World.
We still had a good time.
- Pros: A hippo, how cool is a hippo
- Cons: lots of plastic props in the fish tanks
Get up close and personal with fish and other fair sea creatures from around the globe.

In Short
This is one of only two American aquariums with a tank (Ocean Base Atlantic) large enough to accommodate tuna, which swim up to 35 mph while making sharp, sudden turns. The Touch-a-Shark tank allows visitors to watch live feedings of sand tiger and sand bar sharks, and pet smaller varieties. A glance into the 760,000-gallon Open Ocean Tank boasts seal shows, dive presentations and animal talks; visitors can also take an immersive, interactive journey from a Caribbean beach to a Deep Atlantic Sea Lab.
lots of fun!!
