winter fun
by powderhound58
the bikini races in March are great!!! Alot of people turn out for a fun time that the entire family can enjoy!
keep an eye on the weather though...spring thaws can occur which can make for some icy turns the next day!
- Pros: affordable, good turns, friendly staff
This destination ski resort turns the ski experience on its ear by placing the amenities at the top of the hill.

The Scene
Nestled at the top of a mountain in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Indianhead has 22 runs spread over 195 wooded acres. Indianhead also has plenty of non-ski options: snowshoeing, snow-tubing, dog-sledding and snowmobile trail access. The resort features cozy chalets, slope-side condos and a hotel converted from a barn as well as a variety of restaurants and lounges.
The Slopes
With about 45 percent of Indianhead's runs devoted to advanced-level skiers, Indianhead poses a challenge. Experts and mogul maniacs can barrel down Tomahawk and Winnebago runs; those less secure in their abilities will love the gentle curve of Voyager's Highway. Snowboarders are allowed on all runs, and there's a half-pipe. The mountain is serviced by three double chairlifts, one quad lift, one triple lift, one Poma lift, two T-bar lifts and a towrope.

New Ownership ... doing a great job. Great location for both skiers and snowboarders. Also excellent beginner programs and lessons for all level skiers and boarders.
Well groomed trails, ample lifts ...seldom too crowded.
- Pros: Great snow, Lots of snow, Long season
