Host Beware

by Eak318

This was the worst place to host an event ever! The event staff have no clue how to run or plan an event and will give you the run around while you are trying to get contracts set in stone. They are unproffessional and have awful service. Our event coordinator was complianing about our large wedding during the reception in front of our guests! The room was not set up on time nor was it set up correctly. The food is mediocre at best...you can get more quality food from Denny's. Furthermore, the lag time between courses is embarrasing- it was a 30 minute break between salads being bussed and the head table getting the entrees! They messed up all of our guests' room reservations and were rude about their mistakes! The management never even got back to us when we called to let them know about our experiance! We would not wish this place on our worst enemy.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: unproffessional staff, bad food,

Not quite as hard core as its sister resort Boyne Mountain, this baby's still one of the Midwest's top resorts.

The Scene
Boyne Highlands features 50 trails, 17 fewer than sister resort Boyne Mountain. The mountain is serviced by two tow ropes, four triple chairlifts, three quad chairlifts and a high-speed quad lift. After skiing, take advantage of the resort's three heated outdoor pools and massage service.

The Slopes
More than half the runs are aimed at skiers of intermediate or advanced ability, but none is quite as challenging as Boyne Mountain's expert runs 26 miles away. Negotiate moguls on the Olympic run or plunge down the chutes of the North and South Tournament runs. South Fork is an easygoing stretch--long, narrow and tree-lined--while South Camelot is more wide open. Snowboarders, who are welcome at Boyne Highlands, can fly high on the half-pipe. Cross-country skiers will find more than 45 kilometers of groomed trails (skating and touring) as well as lessons and rentals.
