They gave my room key to a stranger!. I was visiting my friends and family from out of town for the holidays and choose your hotel due to its location. In the middle of the night there was a knock on my hotel room door. It was a strange man looking for his girlfriend. I told him that I did not know where she was and told the man to leave. The man then demanded to enter my room. I very firmly told the man to leave and he did. I then went back to sleep, thinking that the situation was resolved. A few minutes later I heard a key card unlock the door and the door opened. It was the same man from earlier and the front desk gave him a key to my room. I had the door chain latched or else this strange man would of broken into my room. He was pushing the door very hard and yelling at me to let him in.

I called the front desk immediately to let them know what was happening and to see how this man received a key to my room. They told me that this man “said he was my boyfriend” and felt it was not a big deal that they gave a stranger my room key. I find this very disturbing. My name was the only name on the room, so I would expect for me to be the only one to obtain a key. I am very disturbed that in order to get a key to someone’s room all you need to know is their name.

I will never come back to another Holiday Inn. I would like to feel safe in a hotel, but now I am afraid to stay in any hotel. There are many cases of men obtaining a women’s hotel room key and raping her. I am very grateful this did not happen to me.

I will never be back to the Holiday Inn. This was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.
