DTE Music Theatre - Who is running the show?

Saw Rod Stewart 8/6/2008. Rod Stewart's performance was outstanding! DTE Music Theater was NOT. Traffic was altered by construction; parking was impossible taking over an hour to get INTO the lot. Fans were treated poorly by DTE employees. Had pavilion tickets and was not allowed to enter because I was not entering at the correct isle. My husband ignored rude attendant, walked in, cut across 2 rows and was in our seats in less than a minute. I followed the attendants instructions and could not get through the crowd of bag pipes, wheel chairs, and other pavilion and lawn fans. It took me another 30 minutes to get to my seat and numerous apologies to people for poking them with a pizza box I was trying to carry. Next time, Rod, PLEASE pick a different venue. Will never go back to DTE again!
- Pros: Outside theatre
- Cons: seating staff are RUDE, not helpful, are only trained to stand around and direct traffic
Fun place to see a show!

I took my daughter to see the Jonas Brothers at DTE this past weekend. Overall it was a great experience. We had lawn seats, and could hear and see everything very well. The sound was just okay, but with all the screaming girls, I don't think that mattered too much. Parking was a breeze, and free. This was my (our) first time there, and would absolutely go again.
CONS: Long walk to the bathrooms, and a beer will cost you $8.50, which is ridiculous.
- Pros: Free parking. Easy in and out. Great setting. Not a bad seat in the house.
- Cons: Long walks to the bathrooms. EXPENSIVE drinks and food.
Terrible planning for Jonas Brothers Concert

DTE knew there would be thousands of JoBro fans waiting in line, especially for the lawn seats. Of course mobs showed up to get in when gates were SUPPOSED to open at 5pm. After quite a few people fainting, while employees casually walked by is UNACCEPTABLE!!!! Commeon sense DTE-- if there is an issue start selling water in the parking lot and put in some portajohns. No one brought anything to drink since it is STRICTLY forbidden. Finally let the crowd in at 6:50. Get with the program, for as much money as this place is making off of beverages alone, ADD SOME MORE WOMANS RESTROOMS. This would not have been such an issue if it was an adult concert. A bit of common sense and better customer service is desperately needed.
- Pros: some good bands scheduled
- Cons: restrooms, or lack of. Outrageous drink, food prices
Music lovers chill out in the shadow of a ski hill, where hot bands cause an avalanche of grooveable sounds.

In Short
Outdoor splendor is most popular, naturally, during the summer; crowd type and size depend on the show. Novices may think the best seats are just in front of the stage, but the view on the lawn is great, too--and the lounging and camaraderie are more entertaining. Mellow folksters turn the venue formerly known as Pine Knob Music Theatre into a laidback gathering spot for aging hippies. Conversely, big rock shows crank the place up to a feverish blur of dancing and noise.

I saw Pearl Jam here in June of 2003. overall a decent venue for a concert. it is located right off I-75 so it's easy to find. there is plenty of parking. it is located in a wooded area and you can tell they spent a lot of money on the landscaping and such b/c the grounds of the venue are very clean. beer prices are a ripoff but that is true everywhere nowadays
- Pros: parking, off I-75
- Cons: concession prices

Only in the summer theatre! Lawn seats are tricky if you have problems with walking after a few drinks.

A place to look forward to every Summer, this venue is legendary for "partying on the hill", not to mention the fabulous views of the Pavillion seating. Lawn seats are a lower rate, and sometimes I'd prefer to be in the lawn. Some of my favorite Classic Rock bands, like Yes, Kansas and many others are great musically, but it's just not important to get very close.
In the Summer, this is the #1 venue, by far. In the Winter, the State Theater is an excellent choice.
DTE deserves to be #1

I would have to agree that DTE energy music theatre is the best place to see a concert near Detriot. No matter which seats you get you can hear and see fine. In fact if it isn't raining I prefer lawn seats because you can get more comfortable. Oh and this is great at DTE you don't have to pay for parking. All and all there is a great atmosphere there and I can't think of one thing wrong with the place.
