Fresh Food and Juice, Affordable, Casual. We just got back from this place in Union Sq. and will definately be back soon! The food was made right there, fresh ingredients and was VERY tasty! I had the tamale plate (4.50) an a pork taco (2.00) and my boyfriend had a small burro (4.50, it weighed about 2 lbs.). On they way out everything had been so good I decided to try a house made juice. It was AMAZING, I had the mango and blackberry... very fresh and sweet. Total damage wth a water and soda: UNDER $15$!! You HAVE to try this place if you like mexican food, you'll NEVER go to a Qdoba or Chipotle again!

Union Square cantina delivers some of the city's most authentic, and affordable, Mexican fare like tamales, tortas and gorditas.. As with true taquerias, Cantina La Mexicana's sauces are minimal (more like condiments, really), but that doesn't take away from savory authentic treats like tamales and chalupas. Prices are exceptionally low, as most patrons can fill-up for under $5. After ordering at the counter, patrons take a seat in the colorful dining area. Other popular items among the lengthy menu include tortas, flautas and quesadillas.

Great for Catering!. Roberto catered a party for us for 60 with fabulous food. He helped us choose the menu and made some off-menu veggies for us when we requested that. The chicken mole was a big hit. The food was delicious and plentiful. The price could not be beat. I sent a friend who was organizing a last minute party for 40 and Roberto catered that on a few days notice. She was also delighted with the food and service.

Wow. Excellent Mexican food and right in the neighborhood. Not great seating or ambience, but its so cheap it's probably cheaper to eat here than cook for yourself. The people who work there are so nice and the food is simply delicious. Definitely worth checking out.

Delicious cheap eats. This was singularly the BEST mexican food I have had in Boston, hands-down. Nachos with fresh onions, beans and cheese, enchiladas stuffed with grilled veggies, soft-shelled tacos-- they were all impeccable and made fresh right in front of our eyes. A hole in the wall, this taqueria comes highly recommended for good reason.

Excellent food and service!. Taqueria La Mexicana is where I go when I need some good home-cooking. It's the best place for tamales, tacos, chiles rellenos, you name it. I've also had Taqueria cater my organization's event at Harvard for several years now, and I am never disappointed! More than enough food of the highest quality and service is prompt!

Don't miss this. I've tried five Mexican places in the Somerville, Cambridge, Boston area and this is the best by a mile. Focus on the food and you'll be happy. Much less expensive than several others and very authentic. Take the kids too.

Yes!!. I am also from the West Coast. I have yet to top this place. The food is great, and the price is right! You must have the chicken flautas plate!
