Great breakfast, plain and simple. I little tough to get it as it isn't too close to any t stops, but worth the long walk to short cab ride from Central Sq. The "Portugese Breakfast" was amazing. I can't wait to go back and try more items. Everything on the menu looked amazing. Also, looks to be a great spot in the summertime with lots of outside seating.

  • Pros: Great Specials, Excellent options, HUGE portions
  • Cons: long waits (too be expected)

This place offers a great selection of Italian dishes. It is located close to Tufts and is easy to get to by foot or by car. The restaurant is relatively small but they do a great job of taking care of their customers within a relax climate that makes a small eatery feel like a classy sit-down restaurant.

I cannot stress how amazing the food is at the Neighborhood! We went on a rainy day and unfortunately had to sit inside, so the wait was longer than usual. I recommend that you shoot for a nice day and sit outside on the patio. Less of a wait and better ambiance! Despite our wait, we were so impressed by the friendly and accommodating service. There were several plates of food for each of us and everything was delicious! The pumpkin-cinamon pancakes are our new favorite in the area.

Definitely check this place out and be sure to go on an empty stomach!

  • Pros: great food, friendly service, outdoor patio
  • Cons: inside seating is a little crowded

Definitely choose Cream of Wheat over fruit for your breakfast side. It is by far the best cream of wheat I've ever had. Not sure what they put in it... probably lots of butter and cream.

Very charming place to sit and have brunch, though most of the breakfast food was just average.

  • Pros: service, "different", charming
  • Cons: food not spectacular

The Neighborhood is probably the best value in town for breakfast - but like all places, you usually have to wait a bit in line. The wait is worth it. With all breakfasts you get a yummy bread plate for the table, full of wonderful muffins, breads and rolls. Plus they serve you great warm cereal, that is a secret recipe! (I'd kill for it!) Then whatever you order from the menu is fresh and delicious. The egg, bacon and toast combo is my favorite. In the warm weather you are seated outside under a grape vine arbor, and in the winter months you sit in a small and crowded dining room - but the food is so good it won't both you a bit!

PROS: inexpensive, great quality

CONS: long lines, crowded

The Neighborhood Restaurant is my favorite breakfast place in Somerville. The prices are very reasonable (downright cheap), especially considering the amount of food you get. No matter what you order, you'll get a choice of cream of wheat or fruit, a small glass of fresh orange juice, and a plate of home-baked breads / pastries. On nice days, you'll even be able to sit outside, under their living grape vines. On not as nice days, you'll sit elbow-to-elbow inside, but it's absolutely worth it.

PROS: inexpensive, great tasting

CONS: cramped if you sit indoors

This is quite a treasure. The service, value and most importantly the Food. The best and most creative pancakes that I have ever eaten. Kudos to the chef. I will be returning time after time.

  • Pros: creative menu, flavorful, great value
  • Cons: tight seating

Excellent food, cream of wheat is excellent and comes with all breakfast orders as well as fresh baked breads, muffins, and goodies. Portions are huge, they have tons of specials like lobster and shirmp omelets.

Service is excellent, very friendly. Lines are long on weekends, but worth the wait.

  • Pros: Menu, Service, Value

The Scene
Tout Somerville is here--Tufts students and middle-aged couples, artists and accountants, and always a diversity of ethnic backgrounds. The hard-working staff knows at least half of any given crowd by name. Outdoor dining is available when the weather is nice.

The Food
Easily the finest Portuguese bread in the city accompanies almost anything you order, whether breakfast or dinner. Lunch is a wonderful crossover of both menus. The Portuguese sauteed pork with soup, rice, green beans and flan (comes with a half loaf of hot bread) is a savory and filling spread. Or go for a cheese and linguiça omelet with fried potatoes, juice and a fruit plate (accompanied by a platter with fresh croissant, buttered toast, cannoli and apple turnover). It's all terrific fare, and there's lots of it.

breakfast is heaty. Not your typical egg dishes which is a great change for once. It has the homey feeling and you get tons of bread. You leave full as can be. It no only breafast you can have a full course meal from lamb chops to shrip with lime and garlic to waffles yummy! a must see and try.

ASk for the crazy jersey girl she is a riot. Love her accent and zany personality.

  • Pros: tons of food, home cooking
  • Cons: a wait
