smelly smelly smelly
by T M Shaw at Citysearch
Walked in to see about boarding and we were ignored and the lady there looked and acted like she was on drugs. The place smelled terrible and when we looked in the play room there was feces on the floor. There were dogs in the dirty play room with no supervision and they looked really bored. They were very unprofessional and did not have any flyers or anything they could give me on prices or days open etc. The lady scribbled the information on a scrap paper and handed to me. When asked what they do if my dog got hurt in their care and she refused to answer and just said “nothing ever happens here”. If they are this unprofessional to a new client I fear how they will treat my pets!
Some resolution to complaint
by wkr225 at Citysearch
I recently posted a negative review on the Dog and Cat Spa and the owner finally contacted me, a couple of months later, to resolve the issue. She said she had been in the hospital getting several feet of her intestine removed. "TMI."
I had contacted the BBB regarding my complaint and the owner agreed to reimburse my money. I appreciate that, however, she was still blaming me, the customer, and her manager for whom she said she fired. Fundementally, in my opinion, the problem is at the top of the chain and how they manage their employees and store. I am certain that the Dog and Cat Spa have had happy customers, however there is a obvious need for improvement. Good luck Dog and Cat Spa and consider the feedback you get here in the reviews to improve your customer service.
cheap is as cheap does

You get what you pay for. My dog was there almost 5 hours and the haircut was choppy and uneven. Her hair was almost stringy. Really looked bad.
I was told the owner was trained by a master groomer tho was not one herself. I would never have known the difference between what she does and what a good groom is had I not done my homework after getting Fluffy back. I spoke with a "master groomer" and she told me that it is all in what is included in the service. The less you pay for, the less you get. Time is money and those who have low prices have high volume and can't do the quality work that should be done. My dog is a yorkie with a curly=ish coat. I guess if a dog is cage dried it is not a good thing. I had heard it was. She told me that drying helps remove stuff off the skin that even the best hand bathing can leave behind. She suggested I look for a place that uses a bathing system as it uses a fraction of the shampoo as hand bathing. My dog itched like crazy when she came home. I rebathed her. She also said coats when properly dried are straight and tangle free. This is the base for a great haircut. Once properly prepped(her word) the cut looks better and holds the style longer. (provided your dog does not swim in the Willamette River) The cage dried coats dry naturally and are not straightened and you get results like mine. Gross. This groomer was nice to offer so much information(much more than I included here) and never asked who had groomed my dog. i told her anyway.
Bottom line if you want your dog groomed poorly yet cheaply, this is the place. Nothing wrong with it. Cheap is as cheap does...If you want your dog to look good and be correctly groomed go elsewhere but expect to pay for it. I was quoted $58 for my 5lb yorkie. I am considering it to see the difference as I think it will be worth it. I want my dog to be comfortable AND look good
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: cheap poor quality

Not good enough....

This same place is listed on citysearch 3 times. Check them all out. I've used them several times because it is close to my home, very clean, and the staff is very friendly to my dog. They always know her when she comes in.
HOWEVER....They always forget that we are coming, they forget to groom her, they forget when she is coming home. I would bring her in and they wouldn't have anything written down, or at least couldn't find it. They didn't collect payment from me twice until I reminded them. I used their shuttle service several times. I would come home expecting my dog to be home waiting for me, and they have forgotten to bring her home. Or, she is home but she is not groomed as requested. If you question Sunday, the owner, she gets very defensive. I got to where I was calling ahead to make sure they are coming, then calling to make sure that she was groomed, and that she was coming home on time. It got old! I can find another friendly place to take my dog. Very sad because the potential is there, but the management and processes are not there.
- Pros: VERY friendly staff.
- Cons: Poor reservation process and unprofessional owner

Spa day!

I have only met nice employees and owner. They were all so helpful. I needed to get my hair done so they squeezed in my dog during the time I needed. When I was in the middle of getting my hair done (I looked like an alien) I went over to check on my dog and she was sleeping under the dryers. I even stuck my hand in front of the dryer to make sure it was not too hot and they assured me that they were temperature regulated. I talked to the groomer again (waking up my dog, sorry) and they understood exactly what I wanted. There was another lady they were speaking to about the grooming and she wanted some sort of complicated thing then was complaining about the price on this large not so nice matted dog. I picked up my dog and this lady was still giving the groomer and manager hell. I don't know how you do it. I know that if anyone talked to my hair dresser that way, he would kick them out. I still am amazed with their (dog and cat spa's) professionalism and kindness. Good job girls, I would have socked that one in the mouth! I also saw her posting on here, I know it has to be her. In her review she says they were rude. That is a flat out lie. I was there. It is so unfair that people can just go and slam a business with out having to prove anything other than their just jerks.
- Pros: works well with my crazy schedule
- Cons: mean customers not talking to the people first
Very suspicious

After a bunch of bad reviews, several 5 star ones with generic names appear 5-6 days apart from one another each defending the place so strongly?
This place isn't all bad, it's fairly flexible, but be sure to double check how much they charge you, or bring in an internet-enabled phone to confirm their prices; they seem to overcharge and then just point at a sheet of printer paper with a series of numbers scrawled across it as proof that what they're charging. The employees seem to be pretty decent, but they all live in fear of their boss, who's rather over-the-top.
- Cons: overcharging, general sketchy behavior from the owner
Great place great service

This place is truly has it all for your dog! I bring my 10yr old rottweiler and 10 month old black lab here often, and they love it! when you first walk in there are tons of toys and treats for your dogs and cats. There is food too, and its high quality stuff! I usually just bring my dogs in for baths but have done the boarding and daycare too. they have really good smelly shampoo that lasts a long time. My rotty doesnt do the daycare due to her old age and cause she isnt the best with other dogs but my black lab does and when ever i come pick him up he is exhausted from all of his playtime. I am friends with the front desk girl and she loves working there. The people that work there are really good with my dogs, and I trust them. I have other family members that bring their dogs there as well. My Aunt gets her golden cut there every month or so and she has never had any problem with them either.
its sad to see all of the bad posts on here because i would have to disagree with them. I have met the owner and she is very smart when it comes to dogs and cats, i always take her advice and have never regretted it.
This is a good place for your dogs and cats. it truly is a spa.
- Pros: dogs are happy
- Cons: could use more selection of treats
