Compassionate. Our eighteen year old Mowgli had been losing weight and growing ever more frail. This morning he could not even move, so we brought him to the Feline Hospital. They were very compassionate, and while we were waiting for the Doctor (just a few minutes) he took his last breath and passed.

It was a solemn moment - and here in the Feline Hospital it was quiet and respectful - no dogs barking or birds chattering to disturb his final thoughts.

He shared his entire life with ours - thru so many ups and downs I can't even start to tell. And he lived his life to the fullest right up to the end.

Just yesterday he begged to go outside, where he stumbled thru the spring grass and basked in the sun - then purred like crazy.

We miss him terribly.

Best Veterinary Experience I've ever had. I've lived in many places and used the services of many Vets over the years. The Feline Hospital is far and away the best experience I (we) have ever had. Dr. Ternes and staff are wonderful. Too many stories to share. All of them good. Even our "sad endings" were comforted by their compassion, sympathy and accommodation. Highly recommended.

The best vets for kitties. I have just got my most recent kittie, RocketElla; before her there was Cole, Ziki, Julio, Ernie and Charlie, all of whom have been or are patients of Dr. Ternes et al. at the Feline Hospital. These docs are the most loving and gentle and thorough physicians you could want; in more than 18 years I and my furry friends have been happy with the treatment they have received.

Best vet I know. I've taken my cats the the Feline Hospital for more than eighteen years - they're the best. Capable, reliable, and compassionate. Dr. Ternes goes way out of her way to help in an emergency - and does a good job of diagnosing problems early, so the crises have been very few. The office staff are friendly and considerate.

Best veterinarian I've ever had. Kathleen Ternes and The Feline Hospital staff are wonderful people. They cared for my cats for many years when I lived in Massachusetts (I'm now in rural Arizona). It's an awesome experience when the vet you entrust to care for your beloved pet(s) shows concern and compassion for you, as well. Dr. Ternes is all that and more, and I sincerely wish that I could clone her.

My 17-year-old cat, Chico, died yesterday morning. He was still active and very healthy for an old man, but he became critically ill late Saturday night. I called my vet's home at 1:00 a.m. to ask her to euthanize him so he wouldn't have to suffer through the night. (I knew he wasn't going to recover from this and only wanted to alleviate any pain he might have been experiencing.) But she was out of town and wouldn't return for 24 hours, and there was nobody on call for emergencies. So I could only make my sweet cat as comfortable as possible and pray that he passed quickly on his own.

Chico apparently died just before I woke up (his body was still warm). My vet's husband said I could bring his body in for cremation and that he would tell his wife what happened when she returned home last night.

This is a town of only about 1,100 people; my vet doesn't have a large practice where a person might get lost in the shuffle. But she hasn't even bothered to call me to convey her condolences or to see how I'm doing, notwithstanding the fact that she's been caring for my pets for over two years now and I was a blubbering mess when I saw her husband yesterday. But my loss is apparently no big deal to her, and I'm disgusted.

I expect more from my veterinarian, thanks to Dr. Ternes, and this experience only makes me miss her and The Feline Hospital that much more. Dr. Ternes is in the right profession for the right reasons. We need more veterinarians like her in the world.

God speed, Chico. I truly loved you and will miss your beautiful face and wonderful personality forever.
