Buyer Beware!!

by moonshine330 at Citysearch

I purchased diamond studs at the Jewelry Exchange in Sudbury less than 2 months ago. While I was initially thrilled with my purchase, upon closer inspection I had some concerns about the quality. I was able to see significant "peppering" in both diamonds, the cuts of each stud were slightly different and the sizes were not particularly well matched.

However, I knew that you "get what you pay for" and was willing to compromise quality to purchase bigger studs. I ended up having the studs appraised and they did appraise for almost double the cost. But PLEASE do your homework before going to the Jewelry Exchange to ensure the quality is acceptable to you - they do not give refunds - ever (exchanges only)!

Most concerning was the poor quality of the settings / posts / backs of the earrings. The settings are cheap, the prongs are not properly positioned and the backs come off to easily. I called the store to express my concern and they told me that for $50 they could change them to "screw backs" (which apparently they do by replacing the post and back) and that all of their studs came with this standard setting, there were no other options.

I didn't even have the studs 2 months and I already lost an earring as due to the poor quality posts / backs!!!

Feel like I have been shafted

by ibodesigns at Citysearch

Purchased my wedding ring set and within two months one of the smallest diamonds fell out. They sent it out to be repaired, only to send it out a second time because they didn't like the quality of work that was done by their people. When I got it back the diamond look different but they assured me it was the same one. Near the prong, it looked like something was chipped down, but again it was difficult to see with the naked eye and the facets of the ring. Recently went to a reputable jewelry stop to inquire about upgrading my diamond and the salesman told me he would never buy it because he could see a major flaw running through the diamond. we paid 3,800 for this set.

RUN FAR AWAY THEY WILL ROB YOU.

by MJ123123 at Citysearch

BOUGHT A $40,000 RING FOR MY WIFIE TO SURPRISE HER. GOT IT TO MY WIFE SHE SAID THE DIAMOND LOOKED YELLOW. TOOK IT TO A REAL JEWELRY STORE AND THE SAID IT WAS WORTH LESS THAN $700 and the quilty was so bad they wouldnt even sell it. When I was at this store at the Holilday I saw lots of people buying this stuff and some of my friends bought stuff the same exact thing happened to them. THEY WILL NOT RETURN ANY OF THE STUFF WE BOUGHT. SATAN OWNS THIS PLACE AND THEY STEAL and LIE. IF YOU BUY HERE YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR MONEY AND BE ABUSED. MY ADVICE IS TO RUN FAR AWAY AND NEVER GO THERE.

  • Pros: NOTHING
  • Cons: THEY SELL YOU A WORTHLESS RING

Just do your shopping before choosing your diamond

by Sway37 at Citysearch

First time I came in I went with my fiancee. Just like most jewelry stores we have been to, they like to put the pressure to buy something. They showed us some diamonds, that I thought looked a little yellow. I stuck to my guns and I didn't buy anything until I was sure it was something my baby wanted.

Coming in a second time (by myself) a different person helped me. She really knew her stuff, and showed me some nice diamonds much clearer than what I was previously shown. Overall I was happy with my purchase.

  • Pros: Staff was patient, minimal pressure
  • Cons: Quality of service can be inconsistent

by nevergiveup222 at Citysearch

my husband purchased my engagement ring there and paid just under 3thousnd dollars 3.ooo. i have had this ring appraised at 3 seperate jewlers, and have gotton the same WORTHLESS appraisal from all three, when i called the store to complain i was coldly told that basicly [you must have liked it to buy it} i was given no appolijy.or offred any thing,i really dont understand how this place is in buisness, they should be shut down and charged with THEFT!!!! if you are reading this and have not already purchased anything fro this store then save yourslf the heartache, and save your money.this store and its knowing employees are criminals,i would recomend throwing your money out a window and probbly gain more satisfaction than ever visiting the jewleryexchange,my husband could have purchased me a cubic zerconia with more sparkle.than this piece of dull, flawed, glass, that he paid three thousand dollars for.ps a rating was neccesary to submitt this rating, and a zero rating was not an option!!!!

  • Pros: nothing positive about our experince
  • Cons: this store is nothing less than CRIMINAL

They sell nothing of value

by jag623 at Citysearch

My husband bought a diamond ring last year for $1,500.00. I took it to 2 different stores this past month to get a new setting and was told that the diamond was worthless due to a hugh carbon flaw. "Guarantee to appraise for double" didn't happen in my case. The bast price I got was $400.00. I will never shop this store again. I forgot the best part. They never told you that the "Guarantee to appraise for double" doesn't included their store. They will never buy back their own product because they know it isn't worth the paper the guarantee is written on. Save your self the trouble and heart ache and don't shop there. This was an engagement ring.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: The entire store
