One of a kind

by gorangers

Very unique and impressive place built overlooking Lake Grapevine. The view and the building are the best part. You definitely are helping to pay for the fancy building and the view every time you buy a drink. I would say it is worth checking out and you will quickly ave your own opinion. I am not in love with it but it is a fun place to check out every once in a while to do something different. Definitely a nice amenity for those staying at the Gaylord, but I would also recommend to those people to make the short trip over to historic Main Street in Grapevine and check out some of the places over there.

  • Pros: The view and building
  • Cons: Expensive

You have got ot be kidding! This place is a joke, STAY AWAY!!!

by azeee

First impression, parking; of course the hired valets utilize the close by parking for their conveniance... STRIKE ONE. Then the POS "ID Taker"; " we have to check all id's" he grabs our licenses and then scans them into a scanner, uh, EXCUSE ME, privacy!, Why does the GC need our personal information? they DON'T, Strike TWO.Then we walk in as "VIP Guests" (Our party of 6 reserved a table, min $100 per couple had to be spent). We are "escorted" though the fairly nice lobby once the hostess felt like it was time to take us to our "barnlike "table. Stepping on a dirty, sticky floor into a large high school auditoriuom we could tell very quickly that this JOKE of a place was not anything that it is cracked up to be. STRIKE THREE (We have been there for 6 minutes) Then the $250.00 bottle of vodka, the pain continues. Drinks that could not be made to our liking by a very inexperienced hostess and a crowd that was circus-like to put it mildly. This is NOT a NY club, this is not a SOBE club. This place is simply an overpriced joke of a wannabe that will never be. Low class, cheesy, overpriced, dirty, obnoxious. It is a wonder that ANYONE patronages this establishment.

  • Pros: NONE
  • Cons: Parking, door "guy", dirty, overpriced, atmosphere

Price Gouging,Tab Padding, Flaky Waitresses

by Lisas101

We have been to the Cactus about 10 times over the last year. The atmosphere is really nice & it is really close to home for us. HOWEVER, the PRICE GOUGING is unbelievable! I am really just ticked about the whole flipping thing! Whether we are with a large group, double dating or by ourselves-it happens time & time again. The price of drinks varies from waitress to waitress, bartender to bartender - WE MADE A GAME OF IT - testing to see if in fact it was really happening. We involved several of the party with us, went station to station-waitress to waitress.... You would have been amazed at the differences.

True Example: Waitress#1=$8.00 bottled beer, Bartender #1=$5.50, Waitress#2=$7.50, Bartender#2=$5.00

You would not believe the variety of prices we got for SHOTS (same shot, ordered the same way everytime)

RIDICULOUS!

We do have ONE exception: Bartender at the 1st bar on the RIGHT as you pass thru entrance. He wears a hat. He did not over price things, he made eye contact, was attentive, cordial etc.

The WORST was the bartenders in the back bar & the outside bar - DON'T even get me started on the waitresses - YIKES!!!! BEST ADVICE: "DO NOT RUN A TAB WITH WAITRESS" ***VERY bad idea***

PROS: Great Ambiance - Le Freak is the best (get there early) - Texas Unlimited is great too

Bartender (wears hat) at 1st station was the better of the employees.

Good Luck!

Great place for everything

by Bettieo

I stayed at the Gaylord for a four day convention. I have to say just driving up to the property was amazing. The landscaping and attention to detail was something like you would see at Sea World or Disney. The entrance, lobby, resturants, courtyard... all were amazing. They really put a lot of time and money into this place and it really shows. Checkin was very easy. I was given a key card to a room that someone was in already. The staff was very empathetic and very quick to upgrade me to a suite.

The Staff must have had some customer service training as a requirement because they were all so helpful and nice. I went to the sports bar (fantastic by the way with all the tv screens) one night and was ordering drinks at the bar with some friends and we went back the next night and the bar tender must have remembered my name off of my tab and immediately greeted me "Welcome back Mr. Smith"

Everything from the Glass Cactus, to the cigar bar with an on hand cigar specialist, this was the best place I have ever stayed at.

I want to go back with my family..... Thanks to all the staff of the Gaylord for making a great experience..

  • Pros: I loved it here and want to bring the family
  • Cons: People that don't travel much really can't appreciate this place

Bouncer saw road house too many times

by maddskillz

This place is beautiful, but the bouncers are idiots. i am Hispanic. never been arrested or had anything to do with green stuff (i know hard to believe, but true) the bouncers smelled something green coming from these white kids a few feet from us and the wind was blowing our was and the stupid bouncers came strait to the big Mexican guy, ME... Im 33 years old i didn't smell like green stuff or had any on me, but i still got kicked out. the 1.99 an hour rent a cops "bouncers" are the only reason i will not go back there. patron shot are over 30 bucks.but i had 3 of them over priced shots. the last time i was kicked out of a place, i was in collage.

I have to say, I always wanted to be famous and get in all the great clubs and ... but tonight, I felt like i was a part of the Hills or Paris Hilton! LOL I know that sounds bad, but i truly had a BLAST!! Drinks were STRONG, there was a James Brown type band that was AMAZING and I was shaking my booty all night long! I'm telling all my friends and I will make this a regular hang out!!

  • Pros: The scenery, the staff, the pretty people...
  • Cons: ...??? That my tab was not free..??

Hot hot hot

by calgal4u2

This is an amazing location with restaurants, a Hotel and Spa. If you have never been to Texas this is a must stop. The dining experience here is enormous, Many many flavors, wine bars, and food choices. The nightlife at this bar is an experience you're not likely to find elsewhere. Did I mention the 13,000 square feet of outdoor lake-front patios, 1,200 foot dance floor, unique, signature bars and state-of-the-art sound, lighting and video systems? Dance the night away here. The spa has body wraps, facials, massage everything you can think of as well . The spa and this nightclub is on the top of my list for nightlife gifts and the day spa experience. Come to Gaylord where EVERYTHING really is bigger and better in Texas.

  • Pros: You have to see this place to really understand how hot it is!
  • Cons: Parking is free! Bring your ticket for validation, I thought I had to pay, so don't be fooled.

take your fake id

by bhall87

I wanted to go have a few drinks, listen to a band and enjoy the place. But a 20 year old cousin could not get in to be served with his parents by 19 year old wait staff members. Doesn't make much sense to me. Oh well, another club got our money. Rating....zero!!!

Best on Friday or Saturday

by cmb0128

Love it!!! I go with friends or for dates. No traffic to deal with like in Dallas and it is easy to get in and out of. The valet cost extra but they have free self-parking, you just have to ask for it from the bartenders or hostesses. It gets crowded though so going early if you want to sit would be a good idea. The bartenders were very nice although extremely busy. The drinks are a little pricey but they were strong...maybe becasue I tipped the bartender well or he just made me strong drinks. Apparently TABC is in there a lot though so be careful. WELL WORTH WHATEVER IT COST YOU TO GO!!!

  • Pros: Everything
  • Cons: TABC is in there a lot apparently, a little pricey
