10,000 B.C.

First, its a Fantasy and not a Archaeologic or Paleontologic Epic. The date 10,000 BC implies Pre History so you can pretty much fantasize what you will about how the puzzle pieces went together back then. Unless of course you use the title Professor and are instructing 500 students at a time on these subjects. In my case I'm just a young at heart old guy and I am able to make the leap this movie asked of me. Second, my personal defiinition of Fantasy allows for a huge range of possibilites. Because of this, I was capable of enjoying this movie and will likely grab the DVD when it comes out. All that aside, the fantastic visuals of peoples and places of fantasy prehistory combined with very good to excellent CGI creatures and buildings made it well worth my entertainment time. The actors were quite good, no one stuck out as a real stinker and all created their characters well. The story line was involving as it expanded out from the beginning focal point of the Cro-Magnon-like shaman (who creates the central story) to the lands and Peoples beyond her. If you go to movies to allow the movie's creators to exercise their imaginations before your eyes and ears without an educator's scepticism, 10,000 BC will prove a satisfactory experience to you, IMHO.
Pros: Awesome CGI and visual backgrounds, acceptibly creative prehistory cultures and acoutrements.
Cons: The Professor from Gilligan's Island would not like it.
