The best restaurant we've EVER been to

5 Year wedding anniversary after over 12 years together, my wife and i were hurricaned out last year for our outer banks trip and returned this year. On our anniversary, we decided to go to 42. We are still talking about the meal. I had grilled grouper over roasted tomatoes and spinach with a spinach/ shrimp tart swimming in wild mushroom sauce. For dessert, caramel/ macadamia nut tart with chocolate.
We will undoubtedly drive the four hours and get a hotel for a night just to come back to this restaurant. We talked throughout the meal about other places formerly on the top of our list of best all time. Meridian 42's atmosphere, service and above all else FOOD is amazing. NO PLACE on the outer banks comes close... avoid the fried seafood and casually thrown together meals elsewhere... come to the best.
- Pros: Excellent, Extraordinary, Outstanding

This place is soooooooo good!! They have a very knowledgeable waitstaff and will do what they can to accomodate picky palates like mine. My husband and I spent our anniversary night there and had the best meal of the year. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I went for our anniversary last year. I am a trained chef and tend to be a tough critic but my experience here was nothing short of sublime. The chefs' understanding of flavor and balance was perfect. While the food alone was enough to make it the best culinary experience of my life , it was greatly enhanced by the warm decor and exceptional service. Be sure not to miss the homemade ravioli. Bravo, Merdian 42! We'll be back this year!
- Pros: true gourmet fare, beautiful decor, great service

Simply one of the best restaurants in a five hundred mile radius. The service is friendly and attentive, the wine list is ecclectic and fun and the food...THE FOOD is sublime. This place needs some national recognition!! Chef Arnold is a genius the way he handles old world Mediterranean flavors with a 21st century spin. When visiting the Outer Banks Don't Miss Meridian 42!
- Pros: value, ambiance, desserts
