Best Sushi in Boston (Greater Boston). Yoshi's continues to be the hidden gem of Boston/Great Boston. With it's small yet defined menu and BYOB policy, Yoshi's delivers the greatest sushi in town. The atmosphere appears quiet and empty, but it's to your advantage where you can dine in a nice quaint spot. Their sushi chefs are 2nd to none and will whip you up a custom roll or order if you can describe it. Bring your own bottle of wine or beer, and sit back and relax in this 5 star venue.…
Good sushi, great deal and BYOB!. This is one of my favorite sushi places in Boston. I'm partial because I live a few blocks away and it's BYOB. The strengths of Yoshi's are surely the rolls. They use large pieces of good fish for their tuna and salmon avocado rolls, as well as their spicy tuna. Given, their more elaborate specialty rolls aren't superb, but if you stick to the basics you will be very satisfied for a great price. The nigiri and sashimi are average, with the exception of the scallop nigiri which is quite good.…
Yoshi's. Delivery was fast (they are just around the corner), but the food was well below par. The yellowtail was very fishy tasting, making me question the quality. The seaweed salad was OK, still not as good as anywhere else I have had. I tried 4 rolls and none were very good and all resembled each other in flavor. They put more avocado than fish in the specialty rolls. The naruto was bland. I am not sure how you ruin edamame, but it was easily the worst I have ever had. The beans were mushy and some pods had brown spots on them. I eat sushi every couple of weeks and like to try out new spots. This is the first time I have written a review but I really just had to because this place was very disappointing. I would never eat here again.…
Hands down the worst sushi expereince I've ever had.
After passing by this Japanese restaurant many times, I finally had the chance to check it out the other night.
The interior is actually very nicely decorated and arranged, doing a lot with the small space available.
Sadly, this is the only positive statement I can make about the place.
With only three other couples at various stages of their meals in the restaurant, it took nearly 15 minutes for our waitress to tear herself away from a conversation with a sushi chef to take our orders. Food was generally delivered in a timely manner, but I had to pester the waitress repeatedly to get my water glass re-filled.
For appetizers we tried the edamame and the vegetable gyoza. We wondered if the edamame was somehow from a can. It was simultaneously under-cooked and slimy in texture. I've never had edamame like it. We could not finish. The gyoza also seemed mass-produced. They were nearly flavorless and not cooked through (the dough was simply not done).
Our seaweed salads were completely flavorless and soft. I've never had a seaweed salad that did not crunch. Not fresh does not begin to describe this dish.
Fearing fish after our delightful appetizers, we ordered avocado and cucumber maki and an asparagus maki rolls. The asparagus was warm but completely uncooked, while the rice in the avocado and cucumber was crunchy, completely ruining the roll. Both rolls fell apart as we were eating them.
I generally try a restaurant three times before reviewing here, but I simply cannot go back to Yoshi's.
I have had better edamame, better seaweed salad and better maki rolls from local grocery stores and the service was amazingly bad considering the number of customers.…
