Awesome Pizza

by CSMobileUser

I love their pizza! They have an awesome Chicago Stuffed deep dish- I love to get mine with sun dried tomatoes, spinach, chicken&feta cheese! Last week I went for lunch looking forward to my usual pizza & discovered they have '' a to die for'' pasta bar-I got to pick my sauce & ingedients & choose my noodle. It came with salad & garlic toast! OUTSTANDING!!! The only disapointment was being too full & missing my pizza! But that's okay! gave me an excuse to go again that week. You must try Marios in troy ! The foods great & so inexpensive!

I'm so glad I didn't bring family here.

by Simplyconnected

Where do I start, paper tablecloths, or maître d’ donned a tee-shirt? I asked our waitress how the veal parm was. She said it was excellent, so I ordered it (at ~$18) My VEAL PARM was so tough, my steak knife couldn't cut it..

Called Stephanie back, and then she said, I'm the THIRD customer with issues with the veal. (Why didn't she tell me when I asked?) She took it back and returned with another. The meat was R A N C I D. I ate a few bites and told the waitress, I have two dogs at home; this meat wasn't fit for them, either. I had her throw it out, but I still paid for it.

Bleu Cheese dressing had no traces of bleu cheese, tomatoes were hot house, pasta was gummy and barely cooked, and everything is waaaay overpriced.

My wife and I were the ONLY patrons in the place. Now we know why. We will NEVER go back there again.

I cannot remember the last time I left half my plate. Now that I'm home, I'm staying very close to the toilet (no joke).

Rude Management, Overpriced Food

by AndrewAlex85

My girlfriend and I went to Mario's because we have a coupon. The coupon was buy one entree get another free if you buy two (over-priced sodas at $3 each). I understand why they would to add that stipulation, but my girlfriend did not want to order a soda, because she doesn't drink pop. So we asked the waitress if we can avoid buying an unnecessary soda and have our coupon honored if we instead spent on dessert, etc. The manager said no. I have never heard of such stupidity. We each spent an extra $1 by ordering a ceasar salad, I spent $2 extra by having Palamino sauce on my pasta, and we were more than willing to even order a cocktail if they were reasonable. I asked to speak to the manager. She came over (after much delay) and was snippy and rude. Apparently they rather have two sodas ordered no matter what and turn down perhaps another $10 in revenue than make their customers happy. There is no reason to visit this place. There are several Italian restaurants in town, and the food is just pre-packaged junk. The dinning area is like being in a living room (big screen TV blaring Wheel of Fortune, etc.) and the table we were seated was dirty with dirty silverware.

Apparently Mario's does not have the goal of creating happy customers. They barely greet you when you enter, and don't acknowledge you when you leave. They have a moronic mentality and refuse to honor their own coupons/offers. The place is dirty and the manager is extremely inept. Not a single reason to go here. Stay away.

Avoid entirely

by Reginald2

This place is the pits! I have been to this place several times thinking the operation and the food would get better....It hasn't. I have written this place off until such time as the owner sells. There are endless waits for service. Many of dishes are terrible attempts at Italian cooking. One of the most memorable incidents was ordering Spaghetti Bolonese. What arrived was more on the scale of spaghetti topped with coney island chili. Excuse was that they had a new cook? My comment was that they should have let it leave the kitchen!

We may have had the worst meal ever here on 7/1/08.

by davidrosenthal

We arrived at 7pm and were seated immediately. A half hour later we had to ask if we had a waitress. An hour and a half later we finally got our food, which was the special. One dinner had a portion so small it was shameful. The other was overcooked and tough, which is hard to do for lobster. The food was terrible and cold. Even though it was obvious that we were not happy no member of management even came to say they were sorry for the bad service and/or food. We didn't leave till almost 9pm, making this one of the longest and worst meals ever.

  • Pros: Our waitress, Kathryn, was very nice and said she was sorry for the poor food and service
  • Cons: the wait to get served, the food was terrible, and the management couldn't care less

SERVICE IS GREAT!!!

by 1forall

My wife and I have gone to dine at Mario's on a regular basis. Nick has been our waiter in the past and was excellent and had a great attitude. But our food was salty... Nick tried to make everything better. Next we went there on a Saturday and they were very busy. Amy was our waitress and was very pollite and very friendly. Service was prompt and she was right on. My wife is generally not impressed with service but in both cases these people were great and treated us with nothing less than excellence. We have had some other servers that were ok. But we will ask for these servers in the future!!!

  • Pros: SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE
  • Cons: Management is poor, KENO TICKETS ON TABLES...IS TRASHY

Food/ambiance/service

by zhayt

My wife and I went there for our birthday dinners; made a reservation. Got there at 7p.m.--didn't need one. A couple of ball-cap, t-shirted guys at the booths. We sat in the glass doored, elevated portion of the restaurant. The table covers were paper...torn off a roll and placed over a much used tablecloth. The several noticible lumps(glasses would tip) under the paper were crumbs and food pieces left over from some past diner's meal. We moved to a corner table so we wouldn't have to listen to the large sports screen in the adjoining dining area. The other table not only had similar lumps of old food, but it had some child's crayon drawings on the paper underneath the top layer of paper. We had two martinis--they were okay--not great, just okay. The dinner was pricey. You think there might be some correlation between the price and the quality of the food. There wasn't. The food was tasteless, and I think my meat was a left over from the day before and just warmed up...it was covered with a god-awful, thick muck which they pretended was gravy. It covered up the taste of the meat, but not its stiffness. Run away is good advice. We will never eat there again.

NO WAY

by jarheadjoe

Do not waste your time or money at this restaurant. We went there with a $25 gift certificate which the owner refused to honor, even though it was specifically for his restaurant. Not only did he refuse to honor it, but he was also rude and abrasive in his refusal after we asked our waitress to see him. For a restaurant owner to think so little of his patrons and treat them in this manner is beyond reason and is inexcusable.

The food was so-so, but overpriced for this type of restaurant. The silverware was not very clean, and seeing that takes away from your appetite. The ambiance left something to be desired. You would expect to see a large-screen TV in a sports bar, not in a place like what this pretends to be. Not going back, ever.
