I can't even explain ...

Jackson Hole is amazing. That's all there is to it. JHMR itself has the best in the US hands down. The snow, terrain, and scenery are awesome. All the staff and locals are very friendly and helpful, always happy to share ski tips and the best powder spots. There's a great kids' program and terrain for almost every level of skiier. Not to mention, there are 3 other ski areas within a 2 hour drive (Snow King, White Pine, and Grand Targhee) to give you different terrain styles and snow. Jackson is a great town, with lots of Old West atmosphere and fun activities. Yellowstone is only a 3 hour drive, and Jackson Hole is right on the edge of Bridger-Teton National Forrest and Grand Teton National Park. All in all, Jackson Hole is an amazing vacation package that's underrated because of its remote location and lack of nightlife.

  • Pros: Great Atmosphere, Lack of Crowds (Except near Christmas), Scenery, Snow
  • Cons: Hard to travel to

Dry snow, a near mile of vertical drop and exquisite alpine scenery make this one of the country's premier resorts.

The Scene
Jackson Hole doesn't quite have the cache of Vail, Aspen or the country's other superstar ski resorts, but it should. In terms of snow quality, sheer vertical distance and scenery, American skiing just doesn't get any better. The only thing that keeps Jackson Hole from achieving superstar status is its remote location. The closest major cities are Salt Lake City and Denver, both of which are several hundred miles away, and both of which have no shortage of superb skiing in close proximity.

The Slopes
Like Idaho's Sun Valley, Jackson Hole is set up on a two-mountain system with one peak devoted to novice and intermediate skiers, and the other devoted to intermediate and advanced skiers. This is a good system because it keeps the beginners out of the way of the advanced skiers, and it gives the novices a low-pressure environment for learning.

Vital Stats
Vertical drop: 4,139 feet
Base elevation: 6,311 feet
Top elevation: 10,450 feet
Lifts: 12
Skiable acres: 2,500
Beginner terrain: 10 percent
Intermediate terrain: 40 percent
Advanced terrain: 50 percent
Snowboarding: Yes

You'll hate it, stay away.... ;-)

The only bad thing about Jackson Hole is the lift lines keep getting longer every year, and they are starting to approach Colorado's lines on big powder days. Don't come here if you want to ski/board miles of groomed runs, because they're not to be found. If you can't handle the deep powder, the trees, the steeps, the cliff bands, the out-of-bounds, you're gonna be left sitting in the lodge or get bored on the few groomers fast. There is ENDLESS amazing terrain, it's just not for you fashion bunnies. If you like Whistler or Crested Butte, you might be able to handle it here. Otherwise, stick to Summit County, CO and leave this place to the faithful.

  • Pros: Terrain/Open Gates, Snow Quality, Remoteness
  • Cons: Tram Lines, Cold, Tourists

Best Snowboarding!!

by snowbrdgryl76

The hole has the best snowboarding! The terrain is absolutely wicked, you cant find more vertical and pow! Once you pull into Jackson you absolutely fall in love with the place and never want to leave. People there are way chill. There is never long lines for the lifts, and never to many people on the mountain, because its so huge. Everyone should board or ski the Hole atleast once in their life. You will never regret it!!!!!!!

  • Pros: Best Vertical & Pow, People are awesome, Parking is close

Great place...

by worthman_swmr

JH is a great resort & place to ski...but it is not a place for beginners, especially when it is packed ice. The second run of the day, I tore my ACL and it turns out that there were a few others who also did the same.

  • Pros: Nice Clinic :)

JH Rocks

by Katjh80

Jackson Hole is by far the best skiing in this country! The terrain is difficult, the snow is great and the crowd is minimal compared to other skiing destinations. The mountain is big and it is not easy so only the experienced will be able to enjoy what JH has to offer. There are some bunny slopes, but not that many. The town is great so are the restaurants and the views are amazing. Doesn't have the ritz of a Vail or an Aspen, but according to me, those are just wannabe mountains anyway.

  • Pros: Beautiful, Great Terrain, Short Lines
