Great Doctors but receptionist (people working behind the desk) are not very friendly

by Bettyjones1212 at Citysearch

Great Doctors! The receptionist (people working behind the desk) seem like they dont want to be bothered....not very friendly.....I have experienced when calling the office the "night service" on at 4:55pm when they close at 5:00pm....they just dont seem like they like their job and are unhappy to be there....

Great place but agree with the rude front desk staff

by hardworkingmommy at Citysearch

I totally agree with the fact that the receptionist is rude. I've called before and basically been yelled at for requesting an appointment for a very sick kid. There is another lady who often answers the phone though who is very friendly. I just hope every time that I call that I don't get the mean one.

I like all of the doctors and usually take who I can get and don't request anyone special. I have never found Dr. Dodge to have bad bedside manner. He is always very kind and helpful and I actually prefer him over anyone else. He isn't super outgoing or someone who tries to crack jokes BUT he is very knowledgable and always takes our issues seriously. I've always had good luck with the nursing staff and would recommend this practice to anyone. If only they could hire better front desk staff!!!

  • Pros: Always willing to fit you in
  • Cons: Long waits sometimes

THUMBS UP

by photoscherf at Citysearch

I've been taking my 3 children here since the birth of my second, two years ago.

Dr. Shaw & Dr. Mannisto are thorough with a good beside manner. Can't say I like Dr. Dodge much, he's abrupt and a little too old school for me. The front desk lady can be a bit cranky some days on the phone, but she always gets us in if we call for an appointment on short notice or emergency.

Sometimes the wait can be close to unbearable but at least the staff apologizes for it and I've always been told that there’s more of a wait for a more in demand doctor

The women who answer the phones are so rude!

Doctors are great but people who answer the phones are sooooo rude! I dont know if they just dont like their jobs or what but it almost seems like everytime I call there the receptionists are rude and not friendly at all. Nurses and doctors are great! Esp. Dr. Mannisto, love her!

Dr. Mannisto and Dr. Shah are great!

by Mel66 at Citysearch

I think Dr. Shah and Dr. Mannisto are great, compassionate people who like and care about children. Dr. Dodge has less than no bed side manner. My son had an allergic reaction on his face after possibly touching peanut butter and he thought I was crazy for thinking it was from touching the peanut butter. He told me there was no way that touching peanut butter would give him hives on his face and that it must be some other contact allergy like detergent that made ONE eye swell. Well, I knew better and took him to an allergist where it turns out he is severely allergic to peanuts.

Bottom line is that no one, even a doctor knows everything. I just wish he hadn't been so adamant and treating me like a hysterical person. The other bottom line is that mom's should trust their intuition and sometimes do know best.

I agree the receptionist staff is not very friendly and there is one nurse who has a very dry sense of humor that is totally over kid's heads. She seems to not like kids at all. I continue to go because of Dr. Shah and Dr. Mannisto and will continue because of them.

  • Pros: Mannisto and Shah; ease of getting appts.
  • Cons: Office staff and Dr. Dodge

GREAT PRACTICE!!

by kdsmom at Citysearch

I have been going here since my oldest son was born (15yrs). The doctors and office are great.

Good hours, even on Sat. We have always been happy with the care. They will always work in your sick kid. My son has even had stiches there, so we could avoid the E.R.

Demand to speak with the Office Manager to avoid the receptionist

by pufsmom at Citysearch

I wholeheartedly agree with bettyjones1212. The office staff, in particular the receptionist, is dreadful!!!! Just a very unfriendly, nasty individual. She is loaded with attittude and gives you a hard time, puts you on hold and is very rude when she does return. She is reluctant to put on a qualified nurse or doctor that could be of assistance and is quite frankly a sarcastic pain in the fanny. I really hate to call there with anything but routine appt. set-ups. I too like Dr. Mannisto and Dr. Shah. Demand to speak with the office manager when you call to avoid the receptionist.

  • Pros: Dr. Mannisto, Dr. Shah
  • Cons: Receptionist

Doctor review

by wazabi817 at Citysearch

I have used this group of DR's for 24 yrs. I especially like Dr. Mannisto; she is great. Dr. Dodge sometimes lacks a good "bedside manner", and Dr. Shah is OK. The other female doctor I am not familiar with, so can't give her a "for" or "against" rating. You will always get a same day sick child appointment; they even sometimes keep the office open late if you can't get there earlier in the day. You will probably wait when they "work you in", but there are toys and a large aquarium to keep the kids busy while they find a spot for you. Once you are in the room with Dr. Mannisto, it will be like you are the only patient she has; never mind that the waiting room is full, she won't rush you out. I would highly recommend her.

  • Pros: lots of toys and an aquarium, same day sick child appts.
  • Cons: waiting while they "work you in", small parking lot
