Authentic Italian!
by JasonAbby
This is what they mean by authentic! Everything to the decor to the menu screams old school-and we loved it! We started with a caesar salad (excellent!) and a martini. They didn't offer anything fancy as far as martinis go these days. Just a dirty and a cosmo- and both were good. After that we switched to the house montepulciano and that was also delicious. For entrees we had salmon and halibut with sides of cappelini and gnocchi. Loved them both! This restaurant serves awesome food, it's very dark and cozy, and the owner is there awaiting your arrival ready to seat you at your table. We will definitely be going back!
- Pros: Great food, easy parking, good service
Highwood favorite maintains a loyal following with solid old-school Italian classics.

In Short
The dimly lit dining room at this institution has a clubby feel and boasts an antique green tin ceiling and wood-paneled walls. Notable options on the menu include Veal Del Rio, a breaded veal cutlet thinly pounded and sauteed in butter, a boneless New York strip and impeccably fresh salmon baked in butter sauce. Also not to be missed are the homemade pastas, including rigatoni with meat sauce, fettuccine alfredo and potato gnocchi.
