Historical Haven

by hiyucca at Citysearch

We stayed at this hotel in September of last year. I got the reservations online. They have different types of decorated rooms and suites all named. We had the Cowboy or something like that room. Very nicely redecorated. The hotel is right in the mix of things and has a lot of history to offer. This hotel is why we now look for hotels on the historcial list.

  • Pros: Location, out of the ordinary, charming

A historic property that invites guests to step back in time.

The Scene
The hotel's lobby sets the scene perfectly with its hardwood floors, leather chairs and cast-iron tables. Constructed in 1907, this property housed many of the Old West's cattle barons, cowboys and merchants who were passing through the major cattle town of Fort Worth. It sits right in the middle of the historic Stockyards District.

The Details
The guest rooms here are divided into four categories: Victorian, Cowboy, Native American and Mountain Man. Each type boasts a decor that matches its name. Victorian rooms are decorated in florals and lace, while Cowboy rooms display Old West scenes on the walls. The southwest desert is reflected in the Native American rooms, and the Mountain Man rooms are furnished with rough-hewn wood beds and chairs. Many of the eight suites are named after famous--or infamous--Texas residents.
