A lot of food for your money

If you head up to Ames and dine at Hickory Park, you won't be going home hungry. If you get a dinner, you will get generous sized portions on a large plate. If you have a sweet tooth, you can order right off your placemat your favorite ice cream treat. The malts are EXCELLENT. It is a bit of drive from Des Moines, but if you are passing through, be sure to stop and eat at Hickory Park, and if you live in Ames, you already know how good it is!

• Pros: Great variety of home cookin'
• Cons: Long waits on weekends during peak hours, noise level is high

BBQ Heaven

Great food at a reasonable price. Wait staff caters to children making their experience more enjoyable. It does get loud depending on the time of day you go. Always busy, but I have never waited more than 15 minutes.

worth the drive. allways busy. great bbq. been to texas and kc and all thru the south cant beat this bbq
