Euphemia Haye is the name of the Grand Dame of the home which now houses her family's incredible restaurant.

Once a living quarters for the family, it was taken over inch by inch - even added to through the years - as the popularity of its terrific food, stellar wine list and gracious service grew.

Start with the wine list. Excellent Montrachets are available. That should be enough for any vinophile. The list is extensive and filled with winners.

There are some incredible salads and appetizers that you won't find on many menus. Try the Waldorf or the Arugula Salad. There is a signature Black Bean Hummus that is truly satisfying.

Move onto the main course where you'll find the freshest of the Gulf's delights expertly prepared. Steaks and poultry dishes round out a menu filled with very appetizing entrees.

The service is fine dining/casual - that recent designation created in California bistros who love the white tablecloths but still maintain a friendly atmosphere.

When you're finished with dinner, head up to the dessert room or the finely appointed lounge to enjoy award-winning desserts or a specilty cocktail while dinner music is played live on the baby grand piano.

Euphemia Haye is well worth the drive from my home in Tampa.

We visit several times a year for special occasions.

Plan a nice drive along the coast at sunset and then get ready for a truly remarkable and romantic experience.

Don't tell too many people about it though... it's tough enough to get into during the tourist season.
