Best Italian food in Monroe/Trumbull area

Salad came out cold. Soup and entree were hot. Just the way they should be - hot things hot and cold things cold. Veal Marsala was superb - wonderful marsala sauce! Veal Parmasian was very good. Penne was al dante and tomato sauce did not overpower the meal. Definitely a restaurant I would return to. Which says a lot. There aren't many in the area. Their desserts are homemade to add to it all.

Horrible Service

While I enjoyed the ambience and food I cannot overlook the rudeness and lack of respect from the hostess. We were told 30 minutes for a table and an hour and a half later we were seated. I have no problem if the wait is that long just be honest so I can go to another restaurant. We were never given a straight answer as to how much longer and the organizational skills of the hostess were horrific. There were plenty of open tables that must have had mysterious reservations. The hostess even told the couple ahead of us that they had a table for them but they needed it soon so they would only have 45 minutes to eat. I am not sure, but when I go out to eat I prefer to enjoy the experience as opposed to rushing everything.

The food was good but unfortunately they will not be receiving any more of my business, there are plenty of other restaurants in the area willing to accept my business and cater to their clientele in an appropriate fashion.

Maybe if they decide to get a new hostess or a better process in place it might be better but don't hold your breathe. Try it out at your own peril.

serious decline in food quality- service has always been terrible

I have been going to this place for several years now- it continues to decline and today was the worst. Not going back again- the service was and always has been terrible, so slow, so unprofessional and for the first time the food was below standards. And the most annoying thing is they will not leave the oil bottle on the table for your bread, they will only pour a small amount on your plate and take the bottle with them.

Very overrated

When this place first opened, it was fabulous. Since being back last year, I was not impressed with how the place had changed. The dishes were downright odd, many of them did not even sound appetizing, and the prices were very high. What I did end up ordering was average at best. I also had a bad experience on my mother's birthday...I had a reservation for 10 people and called that day to find out if I could bring my own cake...they at first gave me a hard time, but then gave in, only after demanding that I pay a ridiculous cutting charge of like $5/plate or something outrageous like that. Obviously accomodating their customers (with a party of 10, the check would have been pretty nice, much better than their stupid cutting charge) and ensuring they get repeat business is not that important to them, as after they refused to budge I cancelled my reservation and moved my dinner party to Roberto's up the street and have not been back.

My recomendation: save yourself some money and head to Roberto's, the food is outstanding and they let me bring my cake without charging me an extra cent!

this restaurant is fablous for the food and the service . excellent staff very friendly. the food is out of this world . i recommended this restaurant to anyone . also friday nights are the night for the live band and dj if you want great italian food go to carl anthony i recommended to anyone carl anthony is the place to be on the weekends

Fabulous!

This my favorite restaurant!! Everything and anything I have ever eaten was absolutely delicous.

The monk fish with baby clams escarole & beans was a meal not forgotten. Their staff is experienced and fun. I tell everyone I know, go to Carl Anthonys, you'll love it! Send a gift certificate to a friend, they won't be disappointed.

I love their calamary

Good place for Italion. The calamari is the best, that could be a main coarse in itself. Their chicken dishes are also great, food very light, not heavy at all and the food is usually ready very quickly. DEFINETLY make reservations on weekends or you'll never get in, their elegant but not large at all.
