Enjoy a bar resturant right on Main Street. Interesting patrons both now and in the past. A few pictures on the wall feature various famous actors of the past. Must have been fun in the 60s and 70s, during the 'small-town' years of Aspen. I can only imagine. The burger I had was good, service was fair, but distracted. Large screen TV and rowdy crowd on one visit.
A historic landmark, this small hotel is big on luxury.

The Scene
This elegant, Victorian-style building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built by Jerome B. Wheeler, president of Macy's department store, in 1889 at the peak of the Colorado silver boom. Restored to its original splendor in 1985, the building is rich in character, with classic touches including antique brass light fixtures, cut silver, copper and brass door latches, vibrant floral-patterned carpeting, and a magnificent oak fireplace in the lobby.
The Details
The historic hotel caters to the active Aspen visitor, with on-site ski rental, ski slope transfers and a heated outdoor pool with towel and robe warmers. Underground valet parking makes it easy to avoid the elements. Guest rooms range in size from 525 to 775 square feet. Some one-bedroom suites are equipped with a dining room. Three restaurants and two bars provide plenty of options for dining and drinking.

When you walk into the skylit lobby, you nkow you've arrived - literally and figuratively. you also know you've arived somewhere special, a place with some old West swagger that makes you feel like you're in Aspen. Other high end/profile hotels in town are equally luxurious, but you could be in any luxury hotel in the world. No sense of place; no sense of Aspen. Then there is the genuinely warm, completely efficient service and some of Aspens' best food.
- Pros: location, decor, food
