jacks has been here for many years and still folks wait in line....... this has to say something about how great the food is. love it!!!

Just a "dive" with great food

Hey, it is what it is. Long waits, no atmoshere and great food. I've eaten at Jack's at least 200 times. For years I only ate the steak. Over the past few months I've tried everything else and it all great!

Well-deserved Reputation for Quality Steak!

This is one restaurant I instinctively return to again and again half expecting a drop in quality but it never happens. Always a winner, Jack's offers very little in the way of ambience; in fact it's almost a dive...almost. Get past the semi-seedy atmosphere and discover some of the best steak you'll find in the north state. So good, in fact, I've yet to try anything else on the menu, and that's coming from a non-authority on red meat. It's where the locals eat, and with good reason: Quality Eatin'! They don't accept reservations, and it's always packed so get there early or be prepared to wait.

Disappointed

This restaurant has a huge reputation locally. I was disappointed! I didn't think that the steak was singificantly better than others I have had locally - in fact I have had better elsewhere. The atmosphere is dark and crowded, and whilst they do not take reservations, patrons are forced to stand between dining tables whilst waiting. I won't be rushing back.

food makes up for atmosphere

The steaks at Jacks more than make up for the sometimes less than appealing atmosphere!!!! The steaks are also worth the usual long waits. Everyone in town wants a Jack's steak!!! It's great that they do not take reservations. They even turned down a reservation from former President Bush (while he was still campaigning). He had to wait just like everyone else.
