OK food, underwhelming service and exclusionary attitude. I agree with Attitudinal, every time I relent and go there, I'm sorry I did. The waitstaff are imperious and unhelpful...you can almost see them impatiently tapping their toes while you order. The owner has his favorite customers and the food is good but certainly not great. All in all, it doesn't add up to its reputation and its prices.

Attitudinal. I've gone to La Haye numerous times, hoping that I'm going to prove my previous experiences wrong, but unfortunately having them confirmed. Every visit to La Haye feels like you should be grateful they let you dine at their restaurant.

The owner chooses his favorite customers the way a doorman at a nightclub assesses who to let in.

While the food is good, it's nothing really special, and many times has been overly salty.

The service goes along with the "attitude." Servers are not adept at describing dishes and are blase about getting around to you.

It's a cute little place, but not deserving of it's culinary reputation in my opinion.

This relaxed but chic Sonoma restaurant packs a flavorful punch with local produce and simple preparations.. The Scene
The dining room is so small and breezy that succulent aromas from the tiny kitchen easily drift past all of the 14 tables in the split-level dining room. Casually dressed patrons pack both floors, one decorated in Mexican tiles, the other in hardwood. Rotating exhibits of large, original paintings deck the walls, a decor choice indicative of the free-spirited fare to come.

The Food
The understated yet colorful menu is a showcase for local organic produce. Crumbled blue cheese salad with baby greens, spiced walnuts and roasted golden beets melds marvelously with a balsamic vinaigrette for a rich and tangy combination. Potato pancakes, often brittle at other restaurants, arrive here crispy on the outside with soft and creamy centers. The pan-roasted chicken breast with goat cheese herb stuffing is a favorite among regulars. For a truly gooey, oh-boy finish, skip the blah rice pudding in favor of the chocolate torte served with vanilla gelato; it's what a brownie wants to be when it grows up.

bar is best seat. Since we arrived early for our reservation and our table was not yet ready, we opted to sit at the bar, which is right smack in front of the kitchen. Turns out this is the best seat in the house. We watched the 5-person kitchen staff prepare everything in that tiny space. Highly entertaining.

The food is simple (roast chicken, pastas, steak, lamb shanks, etc.), but very well prepared. I highly recommend any of the pastas on the menu (around $14).

The desserts are also simple (chocolate torte, rice pudding, creme brulee, a fruit crisp), but again, well executed. We didn't leave a single drop to waste. All desserts were $6 that night.

Amzing!. Have been here 4 times and have not been disappointed - even once! Service could be a bit more warm. But overall you cannot miss here!
