Stay away unless you want to serve yourself!. This place has amazing food but the service is HORRIBLE. I had to fill our water glasses during our meal because our server was off chatting with her friends. I filed a formal complaint with the owner and have been blown off with "I will investigate this matter." I haven't heard anything... After having been a long time thai orchid customer, I will never return. HORRIBLE SERVICE!

Was worth taking a try. We were roaming around in down town in search of a restaurnat. We looked at this place and thought of trying Thai for once. The place is huge huge and the best part are the windows makes the place look bright and sunny. The waitress was very polite and couteous. We ordered Thai ice tea, veg rice and some yellow curry. It was delicious and the service was quick as well.

Overall I would say it was totally worth your buck. Must try.

Good food, great atmosphere. I love this place. The food is really good. It is probably the best thai in salem. I like their pad thai, pad phet (stir fried with egg plant), and green curry. The decor is beautiful. The view is great.

Good food and beautiful atmosphere. Any time I go to downtown, I go to Thai Orchid. Their baby egg roll, pad thai, pad khing (stir fried w/ginger) are great. The restaurant decor is beautoful; the view is great.

h!t and miss. a colleague challenged me to find a great ethnic restaurant in the state capitol of oregon. basically, i am still looking. i tried to go to a little vietnamese place right downtown, but a woman literally turned the closed sign to face me as i approached the door at 7:30 pm. the next one i found was a thai restaurant in a big mall. it was pretty busy so i thought it would be a good bet. it took 20 minutes to get seated with water and then i had to ask for silverware. i ordered the tom ka gai soup with tofu, which was quite good. the entree of garlic shrimp -- allegedly a specialty - was, first, cold, so i had to send it back to be heated. then, so salty, i couldn't eat it. service was terrible. when i explained the problem to the very young waitress, she asked if i wanted a box to take it home. good lord.

Thai Blah. Its Americanized Thai fare, with a killer view of downtown Salem, and a fabulous decor to boot. Beware as the prices are a little high but downtown restaurants are liable to overcharge in such cases. Thai Orchid could be so much more but for some reason doesn't satisfy the growing need of better Thai places in the Salem area.

ick. Bad service, poor food. Yes, I eat a fair amount of Thai food. Vegetarian = me. Chicken in my tofu curry. Also, not mild curry as requested. A dining partner's dish incorrect, with three surprise vegetables added. STRANGE soup - not tasty, seemed almost curdled, but that couldn't be. Polite, yet slow, service. Possibly because they stuck one waiter on a party of 15.

Best dish is Pad Thai. Stick to that.
