In 1861, Henry David Thoreau climbed Red Wing's Barn Bluff, looked over the Mississippi River valley and wrote a glowing review of the scenery. A stroll through the historic business district finds antique stores and Pottery Place Mall, which still produces distinctive stoneware. Watch bald eagles fish along this ancient migration corridor, or bike the Cannon Valley Trail. If you'd rather sit, try a show at the renovated Sheldon Theatre or dinner at the Staghead.

Pretty Red Wing

The fall colors here aren't the only thing you can come to Red Wing to see. See a show at the historic T.B. Sheldon Auditorium Theatre. When they don't have shows, on most Saturdays at 1:00pm they offer "Shadows," their multimedia presentation/tour. Call to make sure they have one going on while you're here. While you're at the theatre, consider becoming a Friend of the Sheldon and get special discounts. If you live nearby, want to get involved at the Sheldon, and have some spare time, become a Sheldon volunteer. You may volunteer in the front of house like ushering or working the pop shop, or backstage doing lighting, sound, stage managing, costumes, etc. The possibilities are nearly endless and all training is provided.

Peace in the Valley!

A wonderful, quiet, interesting place to visit. The hanging planters, the vintage lighting, and by-gone era architecture is so refreshing! The friendliest people in the world! I love Red Wing!!!

Red Wing is a beautiful river city. It is not that far from the Twin Cities, and has shopping for everyone.

fall fun

Red Wing is full of culture and most importantly many scenic outlooks. I don't know how anyone could visit and not fall in love with the whole atmosphere. Beauty and interesting shops, good food - what more would you want? Maybe I am not objective - I have been going to Red Wing for visits since childhood and have always thought it was a great place to visit. We went to the overlook just last weekend and had a great time - perfect view.

God Minnesota Is Beatiful!!

The colors in Minnesota during this time of year have got to rate the best in the US. I have traveled the Northeast during this time of year and it does not compare to the rang of colors seen in Minnesota.
