Australian tchotchkes and brews give this quintessentially American restaurant a distinctive Down Under flavor.

In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.

The Outback Steakhouse has a wide selection of items to choose from. When we go there we usually get an onion strings appetizer and steak for the main course. They also have great desserts. This is a great place to eat at.
It's Outback.

Bread is just as great as it is at all the other Outback's. It's crowded on the weekends, so call ahead. But if you like Outback, this place won't disappoint.
Mediocre

I find it a sad testimonial of the Hamptonroads pallet that would rank Outback as the best Steak, but seeing as they voted Hardees best burger, it stands to reason.
My experience with OB has always been mediocre, the Steak is bland and taste pan fried, and generally cooked incorrectly. I have been several times, and it was always the same.
Perhaps their Shrimp on the Barbie is great, but as for steak, they certainly fall short in my opinion.
- Pros: Not much, they don't even open for lunch
- Cons: Too expensive for the quality

Outback may have the biggest, but not the tenderest or the tastiest steaks by any stretch of the imagination. I have tried 3 different times and was very disappointed each time. The steak was tough, It took 3 tries befor they could figure out what Medium rare was and the overall experience was a real let down. I will not go back.
- Pros: big portions, inexpensive
- Cons: better cut of meat, train cooks, decrease the noise

The food is excellent, from steaks to baby backs, and especially the coconut shrimp appetizer, our personal favorite. We are always met with a smile, and get great service and good food at your location at Chesapeake Square. We prefer the bar, as we enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. For quieter dining, try the dining room. A great place for good food at a reasonable price.
- Pros: Great food, Excellent Service, Great atmosphere
- Cons: Can be crowded, Drinks are expensive
