It's for the birds--and the runners, walkers, families, poets and dogs.

In Short
Locals wander in through the Nichols Drive or Geddes entrances for a casual stroll along the gravelly paths; most out-of-towners elect to stop by the Burnham House on Washington Heights for exhibits, tour schedules and other information. Annual traditions include the Poet's Walk, Garden Walk, Peony Garden Party and Arbfest, while monthly happenings include docent tours and restoration workdays, which involve planting, trail reconstruction and a seasonal prairie burn.
Shhhh...it's a secret place

I first found the 'arb' thirty years ago as a freshman at the U of M, and I STILL love to visit it. There is no better place on earth to play Frisbee. Or just to go to relax. The gentle hills and the trees and the river combine to make this a special spot to enjoy the outdoors.
- Pros: rustic river, scenic beauty, frisbee
- Cons: no facilities
