Seattle's Walden Pond, this oasis of nature is nothing short of breathtaking.. The Experience
Access to this expansive reserve is limited so that you may wander in serenity rather than in tourist droves. Bark trails wind through 80 acres of lush forests with a bird sanctuary and several lakes--all developed to reflect the natural state of the land. Spend a few tranquil moments at the reflection pool and the Japanese rock garden. Wander through the visitor center, a stunning work of French country architecture. Benches scattered about allow you to breathe in the soul of the earth and reconnect with nature.

The Background
Once owned by the sixth mayor of Seattle, the reserve was later purchased by Mr. Bloedel, a timber baron. He donated the land to share his philosophy: "Nature does not need us to survive, but we need nature in order to connect with a sense of creation."
