What People Are Saying About Al's Hamburgers

Al's Hamburgers
Owner
We are a family owned and operated full service restaurant first started by Al Mathews back in 1957. We try to hire friendly waitresses and cooks to promote a homey atmosphere. Our kitchen is open and Bar Seating is at a premium for the view of the "Organized Chaos" that goes on during a rush. Many customers feel so much at home that we see their faces everyday, and in fact have one gentleman who calls in sick if he isn't going to show (no lie). We are on a first name basis with many and know the faces and orders of many, many more. We would love to have you come by and give us the chance to…

In Short – Al's Hamburgers is still family-owned and family friendly, the kind of place where everybody really does know your name. The food is what gives Al's its long standing reputation. And it isn't just burgers: Get there early and Al's will whip breakfast into shape with omelets, pancakes, sausages and toast. After 10:30, Al's starts up the lunch menu. Besides luscious burgers, diners can nibble on salads, quesadillas and a mean, stubbornly beanless chili.
Best Burger

Al's is hands down the best burger in arlington. The staff is always very frindley and now you can eat brakefast there. Al still hangs around and makes time to visit with ya.
- Pros: brakefast and burgers. Good location. great staff
- Cons: Al can make ya fat
Bad Experience
by lucid999 at Citysearch
Based on the CitySearch rating, I went to Al's with my wife and a coworker for lunch. The atmosphere was ok. Two of us ordered the double cheeseburger, and my wife ordered a quesadilla. The waitress switched the burgers and gave mine to my coworker. Even though, it's a sit down restaurant, our burgers were wrapped in paper with no plate. The burgers are a notch below Wendy's burgers, and the fries are worse than any fast food place. The food was also very overpriced. The bill was hand written and difficult to read. The total was $26.01, but I added everything up and came up with $24.63. I also double checked my math when I got back to a computer and it came out to $24.63. We gave the waitress $28 and she followed us out of the place to complain.
- Pros: Diet Coke was ok
- Cons: Everything else

The Details on Al's Hamburgers
Save Money:
All sorts of meringue pies slices can be had for $1.65 a slice--very 1957.
Know Before You Go:
Doing low carb? Al's got you covered. Make that smothered: Southern Smothered Chicken with chedder, a HUGE chef salad, and, of course, a decadent cheeseburger without the bun.
