Whatever you do,DO NOT take your pets
there ! There is a fair chance you'll wind up with a DEAD PET, & nothing else but a pile of excuses about how "It's not our fault" etc, & a large bill.
Our cat died a horrible death after an enema & blood test. My wife picked up our cat about 8:30pm & was told he was resting comfortably,& everything had gone just fine, so unfortunately, she didn't pull the cat OUT of the carry case to see him. 15 min later she got home, shegot the cat out and started screaming. Our cat was absolutely as limp as a wet rag & gasping for breath with it's little mouth strained wide open. Yellowish discharge was coming out from it's mouth & watery poop was coming out from behind. We immediately called back to talk to the doctor (dr Jenny Darden) . She proceeded to backpeddled like a politician, refused to wait 15 min for us to get back there for help, as they were closing. Well, I guess we wouldn't want to put them out or anything, you know.
Then she said we should go to an emergency service in Alcoa or Knoxville. Again, passing the buck like a damned politician. Now, after she'd made the excuse that "the cat was in shock from the treatment, she's telling us to pack up the cat & drive an hour to someplace I have never been to, don't know where it is, & furthermore probably can't afford it after paying a total of approx $600 for 2 visits. Emergency animal clinics are generally cash only or large limit credit card. So, doc Jenny wished us goodluck & hung up. So, we tried literally all night to save him, or at least comfort him, but he died after 11 hours of choking for air, while doc Jenny was at home relaxing after a long day of quackery. I can't imagine what they did to my kitty, but they hurt him badly while he was there. I don't think it's common for cats to die after an enema & blood test, especially when they had been IMPROVING during the previous week. Improving enough to run around outside & jump up on our bed. My guess is they were having a little trouble with the kitty wriggling around & someone there probably pinned him down Hard so he couldn't move, & crushed his chest &lungs.
Please, if you love your pets like I do, go somewhere else. Anywhere else. This clinic is a lousy place, & if you search google, you'll find plenty of other examples like mine. Of poor treatment, overcharging, pet deaths, etc.
Also, the owner later called my wife about it, made a pile of excuses & denials in an unfriendly manner. She told him to call me, when I heard nothing, I left a message for him to call me, but apparently he's only into berating women, not man enough to mess with his own size.
If you love your Pet, please do not bring him to this Clinic. I have been a Medical professional for over 15 years. I brought my Dog to this Vet because he was not eating and somewhat tired. My Dog had a history of Congestive Heart Failure and has been on a Maintenance of Medications for a year and a half. I left my Dog with them on a Friday they did Blood work and Xrays. Upon the findings they determined that it was his Liver and told me that he was in Liver Failure. They then treated him with an IV fluid and Antibiotics and told me that he would have to stay through the weekend. We called them constantly and went to visit our beloved pet of 11 years daily except Sunday as they are closed. I was assured by the Vets and the Staff that my Dog was doing well and that his Liver levels had gone down and possibly he would come home on a Monday. They told me to call Monday morning to talk to the Vet and see if he would be coming home that day. I called as directed and the Vet told me that he wanted to conference with the Vet who originally was caring for my Dog and to call back in 4 hours. I called back as directed and he told me that we could pick him up at 5pm that day, We picked up my Dog and he was not home for 5 minutes and Died in my arms. As you can imagine, I was heartbroken and shocked. When my pet arrived home, I noticed that he was struggling to breath and had fluid in his lungs.. keep in mind that I am in the Medical field and knew right away what the problem was. I was going to rush him back in there but never had the chance as he died. This clinic gave my poor little guy an overload of Fluids knowing his history of Congestive Heart Failure. To put this in perspective they killed my Dog! Also they did not give him his Medications that he had been on for over a year because they said that it would harm his Liver.. does this make sense? Anyone who has a bit of knowledge about Congestive Heart Failure knows that adding more fluid in the body will in fact kill you!!!! I am so appalled and sickened that they even sent my pet home in ths condition. They never once indicated that he was in danger and could die! When we picked him up we told them that he was not right and that he was worse than when we brought him there.. their reply was "he will be fine.. he just has not eaten in 3 days he will perk up"! To appease us the Vet checked him before we took him home and said "he will be ok"! You mean to tell me that being a Vet he could not hear the Fluid in is lungs??? My pet although had this Heart problem NEVER was showing signs of fluid in his lungs. These people are the most insensitive, uncompassionate, rude people, I have ever met! Then they told us the bill was over $700.00 and that if we did not pay we would go to Collections. This was the very night my Dog died in my arms after being home for 5 minutes. This was said to us when we called them right after my Dog died! So. please do not bring your Pet here and spread the word as much as you can.. so this will not happen to another animal! They are incompetent and the office is unorganized and all the Vets and staff do not know what the other is doing. I had to speak to a different Vet every time I called. My Dog may have been sick but to put it as bluntly as I can they induced his death!

Great compassionate care in a difficult situation!. I had to make a very hard decision this past spring, and am now just able to talk about it. My beautiful faithful loving doggy of almost 18 years was starting to have serious health issues. He had been struggling with partial deafness and cataracts but still seemed happy, until he developed cancer. it was to the point that we were unable to keep him comfortable and he was my baby, I couldn't stand seeing him suffer any longer. The team at Sevier County were so compassionate , worked with us in every way to make this as easy on my doggy as they could. I will always be grateful to them all for this. They knew exactly the right words to use in comforting me , and helped me get my baby ready for burial. They are an exceptional bunch and I would refer them to anyone!! Also, the John Sevier clinic also helped treat my baby and are just as special!!
Great Vet Care.
I live in NC but use this vet clinic when I visit my family in TN due to the much lower pricing. In Raleigh you drop $200 everytime you walk in the door even for routine visits so I only use the vet here in emergency situations.
I have always had great care for my rat terrier at Sevier County Animal Clinic. He has been there for routine shots as well as dental cleaning. Jennifer Darden picked up on a small liver condition that no other vet had noticed. My dog is a bit difficult with a loud shrill bark and fear biting and they have always treated him with kindness.
You will not be disappointed at this vet!
Warm Vet, cold staff. The vet, Dr. Ryan is great but dont expect any personality from the staff up front, the China girl is whom we call the Ice maiden, if she does not like you and she does not like most people who come in it seems , particuarly women), she will stone wall you, if your pet is dying dont talk to her, she wont help you one bit and for the rest, no smiles or personality as well, you will be lucky if they even speak or glance at you when you first walk in, that is if they are not gossiping about the girls downstairs in front of the customers. But otherwise Dr. Ryan is a nice and very good vet, you will like, that is if you can get in to see him
Fantastic Vets. Dr. Ryan and his vet staff have always been caring, compassionate individuals who have ministered to my pets needs. I have known Dinny, Nancy, and other vets there for over 17 years and would not think of going to any other vet. The person who was distressed over charges obviously did not listen to what the staff said. You have the right to have lab work done at the time you have surgeries or not. At least I always have. Great vets and they are top dog in my book.
Over charged and falsely quoted twice in one day! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!. We adopted a dog from the humane society and were told we could pick him up from Dr. Ryan's office when his neuter was complete. We decide to have a other dog neutered at the same time so we could bring them home together in a relaxed state. We called and gave our dogs full desciption and was quoted $67.00 . I brought our dog there between 8-8:30 as told to and when signing him was told it would be $155.00 after going round and around with the 2 women behind the desk I was basicly told O Well ,I canceled his appt. and said i will pick up my adopted dog later after his surgery. When i did go to pick up my new boy they charged me an additional $42 for services that no one from the humane society or myself approved. Of cource if i didn't pay I wouldn't get my dog so they new what they were doing. Later that day i was talking with someone at the pet store i shop at and they said they have heard this about Dr. Ryans office before. I will be contacting the humane society then the better bus. ,
