Overlooking the waters of the Carquinez Strait, this stately mansion once housed Civil War-era generals and their families. Bridal parties and upscale diners have since
replaced the generals, but you can still enjoy some of the same 150-year-old fineries, thanks to proprietress Reed Robbins. From the personal-sized soup tureens served in the dining room to the antique enamel monkeys that keep watch upstairs, the Mansion breathes Empire-style charm.
Facts
Robbins' one-woman show focuses on hosting weddings in the summer and serving dinners year round. The rotating menu varies from dishes like New Zealand lamb to the chef's signature flash-grilled Caesar salads. Restaurant patrons have full touring privileges of the Mansion and its outside gardens--in particular, the courting chairs and fainting couches in the front parlor can lend a fun historic ambience while you wait for your table.…
