In Short – A unique alternative to typical Nashville hotels, this upscale gem offers a slew of quirky perks: goldfish in guest rooms, a pillow menu and lava lamps. It's situated near the Nashville airport, Opryland and downtown, making it convenient to shopping, sports, restaurants and theatres.
Horrible Hotel Experience
by SHsmith at Citysearch
I found Hotel Preston on the internet and liked the rate and that it was close to everything. It smelled like smoke! The pool had about 5 lounge chairs and it was located about 100 feet from a bad neighborhood. My car was even vandalized in their parking lot. I will never stay there again and advise anyone even thinking of it to pay an extra 50 bucks for a nicer hotel, it will be worth it.
- Pros: Close to Mall
- Cons: Also close to the slums
The worst experience I've had in a long time!

We stayed there for a Photography workshop since that is where the workshop was. When we arrived, we checked in and were taken to our room. On the walk from the elevator to our room, we heard several LOUD dogs barking. It seemed every door we walked by had a bark. We went down to ask to be moved to another floor and on our way ran into several others who had already asked to move. We were told we had to come down to the front desk to move! Went down there, and while we were waiting to get room assignment changed, the girl answers the phone and spends 10 minutes with another guest describing wines (shouldn't his call be sent to room services to answer??) So finally after standing there for 10 minutes, we finally get our room key. They don't even offer to move our bags! We had to - we originally tipped a bellboy to take our luggage to our room!
So then while in the morning workshop a ceiling tile falls on someone - I kid you not!
Tried to have dinner and they forgot our order! We finally had to hunt someone down and got our food after waiting over an hour! They still didn't wait on us after that! We never got our dessert and finally just walked out! Another couple left after waiting for someone to take their order - they had been there over 30 minutes!
All of the hotel staff was slovenly dressed - especially the front desk manager and all were very inexperienced! I will be telling the workshop coordinator of my experience, I know several others who were just as upset. The look of the hotel is very unique. It's just a shame that they don't have any management that can train the employees to do their jobs properly! I will not stay here again! I come to Nashville often and if the service was up to par - would have liked to stay here again. As it is, I don't think that will happen...Go somewhere else if you want to enjoy your stay!
- Pros: artsy look
- Cons: service terrible!
Beautiful, stylish, clean, and comfortable

This place has gone through a transformation over the past year sometime because I didn't even recognize this place when I checked in. I like all of the changes, especially the artwork around the lobby area and the lounge and restaurant have a really nice feel to them. The rooms are as big as ever. I really like the extras they bring to you if you request them--like the specialty pillows, a fish, lava lamp or a board game etc. Very clean establishment and well maintained. Large pool that is very well kept--maybe the best I've seen. My only complaint would be the smallish bathtub. Overall, a great value.
- Pros: large clean pool
- Cons: luggage cart availability
