Tips for Donelson Air Service Experts

August 08, 2012

Called for a simple visit to find out why my heat didn't work but when they left my air conditioner wasn't working correctly. 2nd rep came out and told me to save up my money for a new unit, also told me that I needed freon added but the freon is fine after he checked the pressure. Then he came up with some other lame things about the air. My air worked fine but now the inside fan will not cut off. Guess they shorted out a wire or crossed one because I didn't fall for their lies about the unit. Will not recommend them to anyone not even to someone that I hate. Terrible company now. They were a good company but their management has changed and all they want is to take peoples money.

What an unbelievable combination of high-pressure salesmanship, insulting and rude behavior, and incomplete/failed parts and service is this company. Sold at high dollar a supposedly brand-new unit in May, 2011; it has broken down so many times in that year and two months, we've lost track. Expensive hotel bills, cases of heat stroke, and over six weeks of "service" calls later, including three hours of work today (and 10-15 hours in multiple visits over the last week) and our one-year-old unit is still dead. Temp is climbing inside and yet another hotel bill for tonight (a 105-degree heat-index day) is in the offing. If you value your sanity (and your wallet), give this train-wreck of a company a very, very wide berth.

Service Experts?. Paid over $5000.00 for a new HVAC unit recommended and installed by these guys and have also paid to have system cleaned and maintained each season. Now less than 2 years later neither the air or heat works and they want another $1000.00 to fix it. What a joke. Buyers Beware.

Great and timely service when needed!. I needed an emergency A/C repair done on one of the hottest days of the year... they were out within a few hours. The technician, Matt, was extremely helpful and friendly, and even helped out with the price a little by letting me use a 50 dollar off coupon I found online even though my printer didn't work. I will definitely recommend this company to others.

Questionable unethical choices. Be careful when seeking employment with or service by this company.

If you want to work for them, please watch your back. If work is slow, they will fire you for "unspecified policy violations" so they do not pay unemployment. You will also get no warnings. This has happened to 5 employees in 3 years and one before them was escorted out by police.

If you are seeking their services as a customer, PLEASE get a second opinion or estimate. Their techs are graded by how much they sell in revenue and margin dollars, and a low profit margin can cost them their jobs. So they are usually 70-80% higher on repairs than others and MUCH more likely to recommend repairs when they are not needed.

would noty, dishonest use even if last resort, untrustworth. We provide Quality Service Every Visit, and we're available to meet your needs 24/7, Daytime, Nighttime, On-Time. Our NATE-Certified Professional Techs are qualified to work on all brands of comfort equipment. We have complete Respect For You & Your Home, and we're Always Easy To Work With. - ALL LIES

My experience - 9:00am spoke w/ Doris and was told a tech would call before coming

spoke w/James at 1:30pm and was told tech would be out some time in day

spoke w/Thomas at 4:25pm and was told tech will be out but could not say when

Donelson AC called at 7:52pm and informed that tech (a "field supervisor") had three persons ahead of us and that he was currently was working on is own unit. Still stating he would be at house before 10:30PM

Tec arrived at 9:53pm with only a few hand tools in his possession including a 6" flashlight . He spent less than 10 minutes looking at system. He concluded it was not fixable and gave a $7000 quote to replace system. After 13 hours, they did arrive but were unprepared and unwilling to perform any work on ac.

Other companies ( total of 3) told me that price was rediculous and a replacement unnecessary. I believe Donelson AC is unreliable, unprofessionable and unacceptable.

Meg, While we certainly would like to hear from you directly about this particular situation, we felt it was important to stress that our technicians are NATE-certified and receive continuous training to ensure that they diagnose issues properly. Presenting expensive solutions is not something anyone looks forward to, but in terms of some HVAC problems, the proper & responsible solution can be expensive. Our technicians are expected to provide the outstanding, reliable service every time they visit a customer. If you truly believe that was not the case, then please contact us at CustomerCare@ServiceExperts.com and allow us the opportunity to resolve this to your satisfaction.

Unexpected expenses, such as most HVAC repairs, are frustrating; we understand. However, Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning believes that our prices are competitive, especially when dependable, high-quality workmanship is taken into account. We invite you to compare us to other service reputable HVAC professionals. We hope this explains our intentions and could perhaps earn your business in the future. Regardless, thank you for your comment.

Avoid Donelson Air. I'm pretty sure that Donelson's technicians just lied to me about my split-system a/c system, saying that it only needed an "acid wash" and it would start cooling again, even though I had just told them that another tech from a diff company had told me that the bearings were shot on the motor and that often the blades wouldn't even turn, making it impossible to cool the air. The Donelson guys stuck to their story, wanting to sell me a $99 cleaning contract instead of waiting to see if in fact the blades, which were turning at the time, shut down. (Naturally, the system did shut down shortly after they left.) They even pretended that lint stuck on the outside of the system was impairing the coils, which had been cleaned that morning with a garden hose, and I know that you have open up the interior of the system to access the coils to clean them. They also suggested that the system might need more freon after it was cleaned, even tho it had been topped off that morning by a different compny. I think they were hoping I'd pay for the cleaning, then discover I needed to buy a new system, and that Donelson could supply that too. And since the $65 charge for the visit would automatically be credited toward the purchase of a new system, they wanted to rope me into a service contract over and above the initial $65. I suggest you try the Lee Company, or American Heating and Cooling.

Get a second opinion if you hire Donelson Air!. Donelson AC serviced out central air unit in March of 2006. The technician told us that we had a bad compressor, and would need to replace it at a cost of $1,500. Later that night a Donelson sales rep called and told us that we should buy an entirely new system! Two sales reps then came to our house, where they spent several hours trying to sell us a new $6000 unit.

We called another company for a second opinion, and learned that our AC unit was in great shape, and didnt need ANY repair or replacement. If you are going to use Donelson, expect a sales call, and always get a second opinion!

Our policy is to be fair and upfront with customers, and to never trick someone into purchasing equipment. Many HVAC problems can be resolved with simple, inexpensive solutions and when those scenarios occur, our technicians will advise you. However, if your situation requires a more complex (and unfortunately, more expensive) answer to truly resolve your problem, we believe it is important to tell the truth. We do not want any customer to ever feel taken advantage and we feel its wise to seek out other qualified opinions. However, Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning will only suggest solutions that actually resolve your HVAC problem. If you wish to contact us directly, please email us at CustomerCare@ServiceExperts.com.
