Depends on what you're looking for. If pool is your fame then H. Cues is your game. Their tables are usually immaculate. They can't serve liquor and their tvs are as old as the cigarette burns in the carpet. But their beer specials can make up for it as well as a great jukebox selection. The bartenders are lifers and on top of their game (and if you play them they'll be on top of yours too). The one thing no one will ever call H. Cues is "pretentious". It is what it is - a pool hall for serious pool players and beer drinkers.

Many of the regulars are above average players and almost all of them are in league. Unfortunately, they are also above average jerks. There is such a hypercompetitive air in the place that it spoils any chance of just shooting a few friendly games to let off steam. Want to raise your stress level or gamble? Have at it.

If you need to shoot pool in West Nashville, your only other options are the BlueBar/Rack Room (whose tables have been ruined by the Frat Pack), Sportsmens Grille (whose tables have been redone but were previously ruined by the Frat Pack), or Players Inn in Bellevue.

If you can find a night where HC's is not having pool leagues it might be possible to have a good time. Otherwise, good luck with that.
