Worst Service and food I have ever had anywhere.
I have attempted to eat there twice over the summer, the first experience, the waiter did not seem to know where he was. We couldn't even get a glass of tea from this guy, so after 45 minutes of waiting to be greeted, we left.
Friday evening ( Sept 11, 2009) we attempted to eat there again, thinking it was a fluke. Well, spaceman, our original waiter, was now bar-tending!..unbelievable. And we had another guy, who was completely in the weeds with one table. we sat outside and waited, got a glass of fruit tea. ended up leaving money on the table as we never saw our waiter again. GREAT JOB MCCABE PUB! how do you do it?!?! manage to stay in business I mean. Well, everyone I know will never go there.
Terrible Service. We go to McCabe often since we live in the Sylvan Park area. Their food is good, but every time we are disappointed by their service. Sometimes they are busy, which we understand. But the other day it was DEAD, and we watched our waitress talk to another waitress for about 5 minutes before she even came to get our drink orders. Then she got our order wrong and was unapologetic about it. I guess after 5+ times of bad service there, we should have learned. We won't be making that mistake again...McCabe will no longer be getting our business.
Select Faves Get Respectful Service Here.
Look, I live in the neighborhood.. two blocks from this Pub. I have been going here for quite some time. Although I felt like some of the things on the menu, may be very good, I have noticed while frequenting this Pub (over the years) that there is a 'select' few (mostly the ones around the bar) that get 'consistently' good service. Although I hadn't been treated poorly until today, (and that was over the phone) I got tired of seeing others being treated poorly by a few 'hostess's, and served poorly in general, I decided to start placing my orders from home and picking them up.
I order from this pub at least three times a week, and usually more. Each order is between $23 and $30some.. I spend between $60-$200 a week there. (BUT NOT ANYMORE)
So when I called today.. I stated that I wanted to order 3 hamburger plates and (never got to the 3 fruit teas) the bartender said hold on a minute... then he came back to the phone after leaving me hanging for about 3 minutes, and said "how do you want them cooked?" I said, "Medium Well"... he said, "Do you want them all the same?".. I said, "No".. before I could finish.. he said quickly, "HOLD ON". That's when he left me hanging on the phone another 5 minutes. I wasn't upset at all about 'the waiting', because sometimes there is only the bartender who has to do the phone and the bar... it was his rude and condescending attitude when he returned to finish my order, that pushed me to make a decision to never return or order from this place again.
I will spend my time and money were people want it, enough to treat me as a valued customer.
I would suggest you do the same. Life is too short to waste money and time around ill, rude, people.
Local, but Lousy. If I didnt live practically across the street, I would never go back. I've been here on a few occasions, and the servers and hostesses were unfriendly. The decor is dark and uninspiring. The food is not bad, but predictable, nothing special. Tonight, after waiting 20 minutes for a table, my name was called. I had to push my way through a crowd blocking the door to get to my table. I ordered a chicken parmasean with a side salad..When my meal came out, I was surprised to learn that the chicken was covered in a meat sauce. The menu said that the chicken was covered in spaghetti sauce. The waitress explained to me that their spaghetti sauce has meat in it. It is implied. McCabe Pub should be more sensitive to different eating styles. Not everyone eats everything. Plus I didnt appreciate being argued with. After a night like this, I doubt I will go back for dinner, maybe for drinks.
Skip dessert. On their daily dessert menu, you will almost always find apple, cherry, or blackberry "crunch." The other regular item is "Hershey's cake." I have been told the cake isn't anything spectacular, and I have been extremely disappointed with the blackberry crunch. To begin, the blackberry crunch has a prominent pineapple flavor (you cannot even taste the blackberries.) Secondly, the dessert is not very thick, meaning you get more vanilla ice cream than blackberry crunch. And last but not least, you may only see three to four small blackberries in the dessert total.
Old school sports bar scores a win.. Decent relaxed sports-themed atmosphere. A welcome break from Nashvilles other overpriced, polished high def plasma tv places. Good service. Pretty standard menu - I had the bacon burger (good) and a rum-n-coke (ok). About ten bucks. It's a bit of a drive for me but I'll be back.
Clubby Sylvan Park hangout has sports aficionados debating teams' merits over beer..
A local hangout for Sylvan Park residents for years, McCabe is more neighborhood pub than sports bar. The decor is equally warm, with cedar-paneled walls, forest-green carpeting and sports photos and jerseys on the wall. The focal point at McCabe is its large, curved cedar bar where regulars sit and sip, watching games on the bar's four televisions. A respectable menu ranges from salads to filets, but the biggest draw is the juicy, thick burgers.
Old Time "Slice Of The Past". Perhaps one of the last of the "old time" good sit down or carry out eateries in Nashville. Whether it's a meat & 3 for lunch, or it's sandwiches and BURGERS, it's an old fashion, formica table, good food and good service with a smile restaurant. That actually(!) appreciates your business. A rarity. A gem. And a "slice of the past" still very much alive and kicking in Nashville.
McCabe's. The Wings are fabulous, as are the Nachos, and the Corn bread and the service this is an absolutely wonderful little restaurant to grab a quick bite!
