If you are going to take money from the family of a NonCatholic adopted only child, you need to at least make that child feel like she is part of your family. She already has major rejection/outcast trauma issues! She needs help!
St. Cecilia Academy.
SCA played an integral role in shaping who I am today.
The loving atmosphere allowed me to be true to myself; the wonderful teachers (many have doctorates!) prepared me well for college at UVA; and the friends I made there remain with me today. I would highly recommend SCA to any ambitious, compassionate, smart young lady looking for a great high school experience.
The size and intimacy of the school also afforded me the opportunity to get involved in a variety of extracurricular activities, like softball and student government.
Amazing high school experience.
Words cannot describe the experience of attending St. Cecilia Academy. I spent an amazing 4 years at SCA, graduating in 2002. I had wonderful teachers that instilled in me a love of learning. Whether it was math (not my strongest subject) or history (my favorite subject), I was challenged and taught to think critically and creatively. I also was more than prepared for college and graduate school. And the incredible academics of SCA are only the beginning.
SCA encourages girls to get involved--in sports, in the arts, in clubs--to help discover their passions and talents. From the classroom, to the soccer field and to the theater stage, I forged friendships with girls that I still count among my nearest and dearest today. SCA graduates walk away with a confidence that is unmistakable. I took that confidence and went to school in Chicago, spent a year studying history in Rome, and then moved to DC to pursue a career in international energy issues. I owe my writing, my critical thinking, my exuberence, my independence and my confidence to my formative years at SCA.
I not only would recommend SCA to any young woman--I hope to send my own daughter there one day in the future.
Building Our Community One Impressive Woman at a Time!.
My daughter chose St. Cecilia for opportunities for artistic expression, academic excellence and spiritual growth. As she approaches her graduation in May, she has not been disappointed.
With the help of a dedicated faculty and staff she has thrived at St. Cecilia! She earned a spot in the American Choir Directors Association's National Honors Choir and has been offered a college Choir Scholarship for a Non-Music major. She has been a Class Officer the last 3 years and has enjoyed many activities and trips geared toward community service.
She has been a 3 year School Ambassador representing SCA in the community and with prospective students and families. She has a strong academic record earning her the highest "strength of curriculum" grades on college recruiting lists and over $100,000 in scholarship offers.
More importantly, she has blossomed into a strong, confident and wonderful woman during her time at St. Cecilia. She tells me the smaller female only environment with individual attention made this possible and cherishes the time she has spent there.
Fabulous women's college prep school - SCA Saint Cecilia. Considering that our children spend more time at school these days than they do with us, we are exceptionally picky about the type of High School the girls attend. Our 3 daughters all chose SCA (Saint Cecilia Academy), which has been fabulous on all fronts. Most importantly, the academics left our senior with acceptances to very highly respected universities all over the country with around 300k in scholarship offers (much of this attributable to the College Prep curriculum at SCA and its national reputation. Secondly, the school's commitment to service of the community is immense. Regardless of faith, the girls are encouraged to take an others first approach to applying their skills and talents. The Dominican sisters and lay teachers alike have been true mentors for our young ladies. Going to an all-girls’ school has allowed the young women the growing room to explore highly focused topics of study that have prepared them to enter the important next step in their lives as confident, educated, and balanced women with a sound knowledge of the humanities, religion, science, math, and history. We are thrilled and thankful.
Wonderful School!. I graduated from St. Cecilia Academy over 10 years ago and I still feel like I am benefiting from my experience. The academic rigor fully prepared me for college and the extracurricular activities allowed me to develop a wide array of skills while having fun each day. Most importantly though is the environment that made me supported and confident to be myself. The friendships I developed during my four years at the school remain some of the strongest friendships in my life. I feel incredibly lucky that I was able to attend St. Cecilia - it is truly a special place.
great school!. SCA was the best choice for me. I was completely prepared for a further academic career at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have never met more dedicated teachers! They really take the time to go above and beyond. It's a great place for young women!
shaping lives. St. Cecilia Acedemy is the perfect place for young women. As a 2003 graduate of SCA I can say that the faculty of SCA (many of my teachers are still there) embrace every child. Each student is admired for their individual qualitites and is nurtured to achieve their best. The varying talents of every girl are explored, her talents are refined, and her challenges are fostered to help her achieve success.
Launch your life at SCA!.
This is THE place for girls to launch their life.
As Director of Admissions of St. Cecilia Academy, I have the pleasure to proudly represent this exceptional college preparatory school. I am also a parent of an SCA alumna, so my perspective is two fold.
I have seen the the results of a hands on faculty of dedicated professionals transform a girls life. They are available to every student before, during and after school for help sessions, a conversation, or a chance to mentor a young women. The academics are oustanding and each girl who is accepted to SCA is given attention and careful placement so she can succeed. Because of the all girls environment, she will have unlimited opportunities for leadership. In fact, nearly 80% of all students will graduate with having had some form of leadership experience.
To say that the Nashville Dominican Sisters are special would be an understatement. They are fantastic teachers, friends and role models for the girls. Their love for their mission is evident, and their love for their students is demonstrated each day. The girls love them too!
Engery is felt in the hallways, on the courts and fields, and in the classrooms. I challenge anyone to find an environment that can best prepare a young woman for life in the 21st century. The girls have spunk, smarts and spirit. Check out our website at www.stcecilia.edu and see for yourself! The future is bright at St. Cecilia Academy!
Intelligent, Caring, Thoughtful Graduates. I graduated from SCA in 2002. While many say that the college years are "the best years of your life," for me it was without a doubt my high school years at St. Cecilia. More than anything, it prepared me for college and life beyond not only intellectually, but socially and emotionally as well. The sisters, faculty, and staff were nearly all wonderful. I still keep in touch with several of them. They truly have the best interest of the girls at heart. Also, to address some of the other reviews, we had several non-Catholics in my class who have said that they too enjoyed and loved SCA and are still very active and involved as alumnae. If anyone is curious about the school, I encourage you to call the school, set up a tour, or reach out to the alums. I would not be the person I am today, nor in the place I am today, if it had not been for my time at St. Cecilia. It truly allows young girls to learn and grow into intelligent, caring, thoughtful leaders in a safe, supportive, and creative environment.
