I was looking to take some diamonds that I had inherited and have them made into a ring. I had gone to several jewelry stores in town to obtain estimates on the cost. Of all the stores I went to, Drapers was very helpful in showing me waxes that would work with the diamonds I had. They were able to credit me the old gold toward the custom work of the new ring. I have never been more pleased with the work and my wife to be loves the new ring. I would reccommend Drapers to anyone.
We are a full service jewelry store, providing jewelry repair and custom work, watch repair and engraving. For over 68 years we have been providing Nashville with quality merchandise and service.
Save yourself some stress - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. My experience at Drapers was a nightmare! Their unprofessional, rude, "don't care" attitude of their staff was shocking! Maybe it's time for them to replace their staff with younger, more "servicing" individuals who actually care about customer service and their clients. This family owned business needs some new family members to regain the reputation that they once had! You would think you would get better service at a small, family owned business -- WRONG!
Lackluster, but still popular.
My mother has gone to Drapers for years for everything from baby rattles to monogrammed picture frames. They're pretty popular for their machine engraving on gift items. Like the person with the review below me, I purchased a very simple 2 or 3mm plain white gold band from them and asked them to engrave a date on it. The woman who was rude to me and never made eye contact once, said that they would have to hand engrave it, because their machine couldn't accomodate something so thin. Seriously, it is the worst engraving I've ever seen. They started the number 5 as we would write it, making the form and then adding the dash/cap across the top. Except they stopped. So they already didn't make a fluid one stroke engraving, but it now looks like it says 215 instead of 25. It's unbalanced and the numbers are not the same size at all. I expressed my dissappointment and she raised her voice at me and since you have to pay for the ring before engraving, I asked for a refund, or partial refund. She refused.
I never take off the ring because I don't want people to see the engraving. I hate to wear it because I know itls there. If I can suggest anyone to make a quality ring in Nashville, it's Jay Yontef who I chose to do my wedding and engagement bands instead of Draper.
Best Gifts!. I have been shopping at Drapers for a little over six years now. It started with my husband purchasing my engagment ring from Drapers. Then we bought our wedding bands, wedding party gifts and parents gifts! We were so happy with the prices of the gifts and the turn around time getting back gifts that had to be engraved. Since then Drapers is my first place to shop when looking for a sentimental gift. I bought my best friend's first babies bracelet there (with engraving), anniversary gifts for my husband and gifts for boss' day! My husband still goes to Drapers first when looking for a gift for me. This is a family owned store. Yes, it may seem a little dusty or old inside, but if you are a lover of history, this store is full of it. I prefer "mom and pop" shops because I know who I'm working with and they get to know me...maybe not my name, but they do recognize my face when I come in. Also, engraving is free when your purchase the item there. I know when I buy something at Drapers, whether it's a gift or for myself, that it's good quality (we won't buy any jewlery from a chain jewelry store) and they will make any mistakes right (if they make any mistakes). Plus, they have free gift wrap! It's a great place to shop!
engraving nightmare.
Requested that initials be engraved on the handle of a spoon. Initials were done off-center and in the wrong size. When I spoke with Kathy over the phone, she informed me that she would correct it for no charge. When I rerturned to the store (20 minute drive each way with a baby), she said that there would be a charge.
The store is cluttered and dusty.
The other sales represenatives are incredibly rude. I have made 3 visits to the store. Each time that I visit, Nikki is talking so rudely to other customers on the phone that I am embarrassed for her. Not only is she so rude to other customers, but she does so in front of all the visitors in the store. She told one lady on the phone, "I help so many people each day that I have no idea what your earrings look like."
They charge a minimum of $10 for a watch battery. Some of their watch batteries cost $20 or $30! Get smart, and buy your watch batteries at Target or Walgreens.
