This place has a very wide collection
of books for children! My nephew really enjoyed the books I bought from here. From activity books to story books, they have everything; this place is a great find!

Strong overall, but some minor quibbles.
Book Attic is solid in decorative arts, gardening, interior design and other home arts books. They have decent (but not stellar) fiction sections and ok theology. The children's picture book section is one of the strongest in town - they regularly have sought after classics at reasonable prices. In basic terms, they know what they are doing. Staff tends not to be chatty or intrusive, which I like. This is a sedate and pleasant bookstore to browse through.
Quibbles - sign on the door "When it snows we close." says it all. They mean it - there were about four flakes on the ground and they shut down. Also, they most if not all paperbacks with a permanent ink stamp. I *hate* this practice - I think it shows a fundamental contempt for books. Finally, they want you to call ahead and ask if you want to sell books.

Great place for school reading lists!.
The Book Attic welcomes adults and teens alike and has an excellent selection of books on student reading lists. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they're always willing to recommend a good read. Their collection of vintage books is great also.

Book store of choice.
Book Attic has my vote for the best book store in Nashville - notice I don't say _used_ book store. With so few non-chain new book stores surviving, Book Attic has a wider variety, a deeper backlist, and a MUCH more knowledgable staff than any other book store I'm familiar with in the Nashville area. And I was a librarian for 32 years and have been a reader all my life, so I know book stores!
