Customers are Frowned Upon. I am one of the techs responsible for setting up Nashville's 4G market. A co-worker and I, naturally, were the first two people to pre-order the first 4G phone, the Evo. At the same time I placed my pre-order, I also set up a separate Sprint line for work. The day of the release, we went to pick up our phones, and I also needed to exchange my current phone of less than 30 days. Apparently, doing an exchange for the new phone was "a pain". The mobile manager went on to tell me that "YOU REALLY HOSED ME ON THIS ONE, EVEN AFTER I PUSHED YOU GUYS TO THE FRONT OF THE PRE-ORDER LINE." This one statement was uncalled for, especially since he did nothing for us. After all, we were the first to pre-order and we also scheduled ourselves to be the first two appointments to get the phone. The experience lasted about an hour with the manager continuing his rants about how I supposedly screwed him over somehow, and that I was costing him money. I left not feeling any excitement over my new purchase, but instead, I had a feeling of regret. I will never purchase another item from this store again. Also, being that I am surrounded by technology professionals, I have passed the word along of my experience so that they no longer buy from this store.
Horrible..
We purchased a computer at this store 6 months ago. They talked us into their extended service plan which was supposed to cover everything. If this computer messed up or broke, we could bring it in. If they couldn't fix it, they would replace it.
We brought the system in 6 months after buying it when it just kept shutting off on its own, and were met with a really snide, arrogant guy. We explained the issue to which he said they would need to do diagnostics on it. If it was hardware, they would try to fix it. If it was software, we were up the creek. That's not what they told us when I spent $200 on the extended warranty.
So 5 days later they tell us its software. We ask them to wipe it and reinstall windows Vista. Gateway did not provide disks with the computer, so we figured they could do the reinstall and use the product code on our computer. They said sure, for $129 we can do that. Well I don't want to pay you $129 after already paying you $200. They tell us Gateway won't fix software issues either. Great.
We pick it up. We bring it home we get on the phone with Gateway, they tell us how to reinstall everything by some secret back door hold down alt and press F10 thing while the computer starts up. It goes through the recovery process which wipes EVERYTHING completely reformats the entire system so software issue should be gone right?
Wrong. Its still shutting down so the fact that they lie and say its a software issue is really messed up. And the fact that they didn't tell me that I could restore it.
Anyway find another place.
unfriendly sales people. The people here are unfriendly and not helpful whatsoever. I was appalled at how I was treated while I was there. There is a circuit city right next door. I will never go back to best buy again. If I ever need anything like that, I will go to circuit city.
A virtual Mecca for gear heads, this electronics giant hawks everything from booming sound systems to notebook-sized personal computers..
