Care for both pet and the owner!

by Twat at Citysearch

My experience has been positive! The vet we usually use wan't helping with our cat's ear problem, so we took him to Larkin. They saw the problem right away! I was also impressed when they treated him for cystitis the put him on pain medicine for 2 days until the antibiotic took effect. Something no other vet has done for my cats. We are very satisfied with both our vet facilities but will spend the extra money to see our pets get the best care if that means taking them somewhere else.

  • Pros: Very helpful and knowlegable!
  • Cons: Are on the expensive side

Why was MY review taken down?

by Nknow at Citysearch

I will review this once again and take measures to make more public now that I see that not only my own, but other people's negative reviews were removed.

Bring your CAT in if you'd like to be seen by a specialist who overcharges. My own example: Larkin doubles the price for Oravet for one) after taking my dog to a dental specialist in Phila. I was irate with the heaps of misinfo. Dr. Kay Larkin had given me. The time of taking my dog there had been so much money wasted and had made her teeth worse. Thank you, Larkin, a bargain waste of time.

  • Pros: Cat Knowledgable
  • Cons: All about the Bottom Line!

Staff nice, expensive

by Shell2983 at Citysearch

I wouldn't recommend this vet if you have an exotic animal. I have a bunny. She had an inner ear infection. Didn't prescribe right medicine. I would recommend the Berks Humane Society for a rabbit. Plus, the bunny vet at Larkin had hours in the morning and afternoon. She had no evening hours for people who work. If you have a cat or dog especially a cat then this place would be great. Have an exotic animal in Reading, PA area, I recommend going somewhere else unless you want to pay a lot of money.

  • Pros: Staff was nice. They had emergency service.
  • Cons: Very expensive.

my animals deserve better

by Nknow at Citysearch

Many other pet owners aware of what I was paying urged me to change out of the fact they felt I was being overcharged. Money aside, Staff AND Doctors could be rude.

Error in diagnosing and treating my pet more than once. I went to another after seeking other opinions when a procedure was needed.

*Last note:

It has been clearly shown in my own experience that money comes before animals, even in an emergency.
