In Short – Elk is further upstate and more remote than most of the other Pocono ski areas, and appeals more to the expert skier than to families or the college-age partying crowd. The crowds can get large and the lines long at times, but these are mostly hard-core skiers in line, not beginners. Avid skiers and boarders generally give high marks to the expert slopes, which comprise almost half of the available trails.
