Owner Ron Martine is an avid antiques collector, and the rooms here are filled with unique Victorian furniture, from massive mahogany beds to marble-topped tables and hand-carved fireplace mantels. Many rooms have working fireplaces and claw-foot tubs; the more expensive ones also have striking views of Monterey Bay.

The Details
Breakfast--warm muffins, fresh fruit or granola, then a hot dish such as poached eggs in artichoke sauce--is a sit-down meal served in the main dining room overlooking Monterey Bay. Silver serving dishes, Victorian china and a fire in the fireplace on cool mornings add glamour. Early evening brings a candlelit spread of wine, cheese, crudites and warm hors d'oeuvres (squares of frittata or pastry-wrapped sausages, for example). Coffee, tea and cookies are available all day. There is a library with books and games, a pool table and an enclosed hot tub off the main courtyard.

Wonderful. Loved staying at the Martine Inn. Great room, overlooking Monterey Bay The employees couldn't have been nicer. Great location. Great jogging, walking, biking path across the street. Would stay again.
