Spectacular!. While visiting family in the Fall, we took the kids to the aquarium for the first time...and it won't be our last time. Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. At every corner there was something new for us to explore. The kids especially got a kick out of the playful otters and the touch tanks. The cafe was great too. We enjoyed overlooking the bay while we ate lunch. We are definitely going to go back the next time we are visiting family.

a must see in Monterey. If you are going with a family it can get pretty pricey but is a such a beautiful place. They make it easy to see everything but it will take you the whole day to go through the entire thing. They Jelly fish and outer limits exhibits were amazing.

WOW!!!!. What can I say about the Monterey Bay Aquarium that hasn't already been said in the other reviews.... I will just add that it is worth every cent you pay to get in! I have had a mambership for over five years and I never tire of visiting there. I go for the day with my family, I sit and watch deep sea creatchures that I would not be able to see on my own.

I love to take my digital camera and snap photos of the Jellies, and of the birds in the sanctuary. Very educational for my children. I usually give gifts of membership to my family and friends for Birthdays and Christmas or other special occasions.

Great place to spend the day at!. I have a membership so there isn't a line for me. But..... the aquarium was great. The otters, great white, penguins, jellyfish...... etc. I love this place and wished I lived closer so I could come down more. There are restuarants close by and the staff at the aquarium is great. I don't think that it is a tourist trap. It's a beautiful place for kids and adults. Looking through the telescope outside and seeing the seals is great. You will never want to leave this place!!!!

Wonderful Aquarium. Probably one of the best aquarium's in the world! Very clean and new and open. Amazing jellyfish exhibit. The otters are of course adorable - and the staff who feeds them and the other animals really seem to love what they're doing. My husband and I are in our twenties and had a great time, but part of the fun was watching all the kids who just love the place. It'll really inspire you to do what you can to take care of our oceans.

One of the best I've seen. I absolutely loved this Aquarium! At first I thought the tickets were a bit steep at $22/person, we quickly realized how special this place was. We went straight to the sea otter exhibit--they were sooo cute!! The jellyfish exhibit was amazing; very dark and moody but absolutely beautiful. We went during the summer so it was warm outside and we were able to enjoy the outside walkway. The wave machine display was neat and it was bizarre getting to touch the different fish in the exploration tanks. I'd love to take my camera and come back and take some professional pictures of the exhibits.

Monterey's jewel is one of the country's largest aquariums.. Overview
Built on the border of one of the largest underwater canyons in the world and specifically designed to reflect life on the Central California coast, the Monterey Bay Aquarium holds more than 350,000 specimens, including the ever-cute sea otters and an enclosed three-story kelp forest, into which 2,000 gallons of raw seawater is pumped each minute.

The Experience
Buy tickets in advance to avoid standing in line, and arrive early for optimal sea-creature viewing. Start at "The Outer Bay" exhibit and move on to tank after tank of equally mesmerizing jelly fish, then to an immersive tank of the biggest tuna you ever saw. The award-winning exhibit "Jellies: Living Art" pairs live jelly fish with artwork that the organisms inspire.

Fun day for the family. Amazingly, the aquarium kept the attention of two teenaged boys for an entire afternoon. Good place for a family visit.

Only odd thing - when we visited, there was a huge exhibit about the depletion of the shrimp population - image our surprise when the restaurant next door was Bubba Gump Shrimp.
