After meeting the "salesman on the street" guests enter the dining area by walking through the bar area, which was empty for this Monday lunch. What drew my attention was the fantastic view of Monterey Bay. Windows line the width of the restaurant and the building is only 1 story above the beach and water.
The décor is a rich colorful Mediterranean palate of decorations, pictures & lighting. The music was a lovely Spanish style that fit nicely with the ambiance.
We were seated at a window table from which we enjoyed watching kayaks and sailboats traverse the Bay. Tables have white paper over top of the linen tablecloth. Ours appeared not to have been changed since the prior guest, and it was not entirely clean.
The specials menu offered 4-5 choices of entre and soup or salad for $9.95. The main menu covered a variety of fish, pasta and chicken dishes. My guest and I wanted something local – one of us had the Rockfish special and the other had Sand Dabs. I found the fish more fried than pan seared, and personally I prefer to taste more of the fish than the batter, but it was good. The entre included spaghetti and green beans to go with the two generous fillets. The spaghetti wasn’t buried in sauce and the green beans were tastily seasoned. There was so much food I was glad to have skipped the appetizer. My guest had the special which included a salad, which I found good but over-dressed.
Our server was pleasant and the bus person efficient. From observing the tables around us, the waiter did seem to struggle to keep up and get orders correct. The waiter did not introduce the specials, nor did he probe what on the menu we were considering. He was just there to take our order and answer questions
.
We didn’t want to leave without something sweet, and I’m glad we shared. The Chocolate Mousse was served in a tall Sundae glass so there was more than enough for the two of us. In the end my guest and I left with the feeling as though we had made a good choice. The food is good, and the view, décor and value are great.
- Pros: Value, Taste, View
- Cons: Parking
Great Food and Beautiful View

We sat a table overlooking Monterey Bay. The food was great for old and young alike. My young teenage niece and nephew loved the Fish and Chips, while we enjoyed fish and steak. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Paradiso has more of a "regulars" feeling than the typical "tourist" restaurant you'd expect in this area. I recommend it over the other "Warf" seafood restaurants.
- Pros: Great Location, Great Food, Great View
- Cons: If you are in a hurry, I recommend a different restaurant. This is one to enjoy.
